Vietnam is actually where Samsung phones are made, most of them anyway. Samsung's manufacturing facility is located in Vietnam's Thai Nguyen province where two factories are churning out smartphones, tablets and wearable devices.Oct 3, 2022

Unless your phone is less than two years old there’s a good chance it was made in China. Otherwise it’s probably Vietnam or…wait for it…India. But I’m sure it’s the good part of India. Not that sucky part that Apple uses. 🙄

It's called GPU rendering farm - each computer consisting of 2-8x GPUs linked and churning those pixels in Redshift, Blender, Vray etc.

Yup, this guy did: https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/o4a2v0/successful_windows_11_install_and_tripleboot_on/
Mine's running Linux (which of course still updates to the latest everything), and I personally have no intention of installing Windows on that particular machine, although it's good to know it can run it.

Labor costs in China are rising. This is a good sign indicating livelihoods are improving and better jobs are being created not just factory work.

Thank God you can sleep at night knowing your phone is made in a responsible Chinese factory since this issue is only an Apple issue. Or maybe you got yours made with good old ‘Merican labor which we all know is unblemished?

I do not disagree and this is not fair to American workers either. I was just explaining the rationale.

India would side with china in a world war. They’re dependent on their economy

Challenge accepted - I've got a Thinkpad T400 here, although I think it's from 2008, so technically it's not from 2009 as required.

These 4080 cards are absolute overkill for 1080p@60fps. An Nvidia 3060 Ti or a Radeon RX 6600 XT or 6700 XT should be more than enough for your requirements. You can get any one of those GPUs at around 350 to 500 USD.

that is why I used past tense. and yes, many aspects of cg creation leverage nvidia proprietary algos. cant imagine using anything else other then nvidia cards, apple chips seems to be the only way to dislodge them in the future but probably never in terms of raw power…
