Currently own an eos RP and love it but given the first generation of cannons mirrorless full frame bodies were just re-packages of their existing full frame DSLR‘s it’s time for a refresh.
We know they can do better

It’s a 5D Mark IV without a mirror.
Is it a good camera? Sure. Is it ready for a refresh. Yes.
Edit: fixed a typo because Roman numerals are hard

I'm a complete noob at camera sensors stuff, what is a global shutter and why is this a big development? I'm actually curious and would love to know more

You can get the Canon R for like a grand and it’s an amazing FF camera.

Not only OnePlus, but also Realme and then finally a gimped down Dizo.
Edit: Then we'd get another one next year from Vivo coz BBK want to milk that ofcourse.

Was steam link a failure? Isn't it basically the same thing as in home streaming, which has been great since it launched?

The EOS RP is a great little camera, it’s right at 1k body only

Because the R6 is still hovering around $2000 with low shutter counts and the R5 is $3300 all day long, while the R is still going for $1400 being notably meh. (Also my clumsy ass loves a protection plan)
They’ve rounded out their lineup with the crop sensor cameras, put out a second generation of the R6… it’s time to refresh the lower end of their full frame lineup.

Oppo tends to make passion project tech that’s pretty cool at the time from a technical standpoint but barely support it afterwards and once they have their fun creating, never touch that type of device again or wait years to make a second attempt. If you know that going in, some of their stuff is nice

That's literally what every company in the industry does.

It’s for commercial applications, so I doubt it has good color science and dynamic range. But it’s promising for the future

It's a PC for PC sensibilites, there are no generations its constant progression. If something needs fixing you fix it.

Why would you ever buy new entry level when there is a robust used market and you can get an older prosumer level instead.
And if you are willing to manual focus, there's the abundant supply of cheap vintage fast glass.
If you are a professional, then by all means buy new.

Filmic motion, and no rolling shutter artifacts like flash-banding or motion skew? Take my money! Oh wait, global sensors exist, they all come with compromises though, usually in DR. If there are no compromises with this sensor...take my money!

I grew up with PC’s but the past few years I’ve owned PlayStations. It’s so refreshing seeing a company be transparent and answer questions instead of pitching marketing terms. Nintendo and Sony are always super vague. Thinking of getting a steam deck at some point!

I’d love an updated model

Typical Chinese version of something. Copy paste then copy paste some more. Pathetic and embarrassing.

No. Before 1994 there were no smartphones. Someone had to have the idea for something new. Before 1986 no one thought to put a touchscreen in a car. Now they all have them. It’s as if the world has become a boring copy paste version of what it used to be. Where everyone was trying to do something new instead of what everyone else was doing.
