Sounds like you’re mad cause we get a horror series remade that we haven’t had in years, Resident evil and Silent hill are doing the same thing, so I see no problem with them remaking dead space, it’s better than getting a HD port on PS5.

Ok this sounds promising. Not that I need another game but it's been a nice break to play a chapter or 2 in-between levels on another game.

That’s because dead space has been dead for years until now, if they went straight off the bat and made a sequel, there fan base wouldn’t be as popular like back then, especially how much of a failure dead space 3 was, it’s the right start to remake them and build the fan base back up, also visceral isn’t around anymore, Motive studios did good with dead space remake and that will build there clientele for future entry’s in the series, cause they never made a dead space game until now.

I second this. Outer Wilds (not Outer Worlds!) thrusts you into a solar system, with almost no explanation, and expects you to explore and figure things out, slowly unlocking hints and letting you find out how to apply what you saw somewhere in another place.

Lol no, I said you should only remake games that actually feel dated. Dead space 1 is only 2 generations old. It could easily have been remastered instead of “remade.”

Resident evil 4 is 3-3 1/2 generations old now. Silent hill 2, also 3 generations and 22 years old now.

Yea, I’m saying that all these remakes will eventually lead to Dead space 4 and when they do remake Dead space 3, that game needs to be remade from being a action game.

you do realize marketing is inheritently costly right? that's not new, it's been that way for decades.

also what companies are run by marketing? typically a company (a publisher for example) will set the budgets for marketing, and sometimes marketing costs don't factor in till later on where deals are made.

cinematic games are those that take the player out of the direct gameplay, either via cutscenes or non-interactible scripted sequences.

being linear or holding the players hand doesn't inheritently do that.

also no, competition doesn't mean other types of games take a step back, majority of games don't fit the same mold. Popularity of an aspect "let's say open world" may influence a lot of games to experiement with that feature, but it isn't going to affect games that have no use for it. Even then the problem isn't really with the games themselves, but more so with publishers wanting to cash in on trends. The ideas aren't the problem.

remakes and remasters DO have valid points to their creation, just because some are taken for granted as cash grabs doesn't mean their entire existence is invalid. That kind of mentality doesn't work for anything.
