Most new boxed PC games come with a code anyways. For example, I have the retail box of Cyberpunk 2077 and it came with a code, the actual discs in it are for the soundtrack.
But like everyone else said, for older games on discs use a USB drive.

USB DVD drives are cheap.
Also most physical PC games these days are just CD keys. Activate and download.

Honestly, i agree about the hahalolrandom that the series has gone
BL3 being the biggest offender in that category

Access to a PC with reasonable gaming capabilities? Or willingness to upgrade? Or is this more of a "what can I play on the $500 laptop I bought 2 years ago" situation?

Why would you even consider buying physical PC games?

The general consensus among Borderlands fans is that BL2 is the best one, so I don't see how it's overrated.
Which, I also disagree with that consensus. Or at least don't entirely agree.
Weapons were more mundane, but that also made loot feel more impactful. Even just boss weapons in BL1 felt like a major upgrade. The exact opposite of this is Tiny Tina's Wonderlands where everything is roughly leveled the same and every gun is quirky so nothing stands out and I just don't care about looting at all.
The atmosphere is a lot more grounded and gritty in BL1, striking a better balance. Unlike BL2 which just put the entire franchise in a trajectory towards memeshit that is just dated today.

There are usb dvd drives. Physical copies also come with a download code, so you can also download them.

You can buy a USB disc reader.

Also don’t forget about it’s spin off on PSP, Gangs of London, that’s a criminally underrated game to.

at the time it was insane, dont remember getaway 2 so much.. but the first I must have been 13 years old so was perfect game for me then. I dont remember the story at all but the game play and mechanics were great.

A game that should’ve had a 3rd entry, PlayStation needs to get off there ass and bring this crime game back, just imagine what a PS5 version of Getaway would be like, especially with all the new technology we have now.

Bro borderlands was amazing for its time, of course it won’t hit the same in 2023, because they had multiple sequels that was better.

For an adult with no gaming experience. In PC =)

This started even with the PS3/360 and is meant to cut down load times by saving common files on the HDD. Graphic and audio fidelity has greatly surpassed optical drive technology (more specifically read time and disc speed). You're complaining about an ideal solution that's been in effect for 15+ years.

I’ve never played Dead Space (original). Should I just play the remaster and then 2 and 3, or should I play the original and then the remaster?

Hardly any PC game case has CDs these days, they are mostly just vouchers/codes for a digital store front.
