I totally get that, and that's valid. I think maybe a better way to say what I feel is that after OOT, the 3D Zeldas slowly started to lose me because I could never shake the feeling that I was playing "OOT But X" (sailing, wolf, etc). BotW was the first 3D Zelda to make me feel like I felt playing the 2D Zeldas again.
That's not to say I thought the 3D Zeldas were bad games. Not at all. But after a certain point, I didn't feel the connection to the franchise I once had, until BotW pulled me back in.

I just assume based on my own experience gaming 2ft away from a screen for over a decade that the eye strain without an opportunity to correct itself eventually leads to a permanent change, aka damage. *shrug*

Reply to comment by Haunting-Pop-5660 in Is Resident Evil 4 remake a replacement or will you keep playing the original? by LostNDarkness
I haven’t gotten very far, I’m up to the part where you met the merchant for the first time. But the game isn’t really the same or 1:1 exactly like the original. Like they’ve terraformed the environment to incorporate more of the lake into the village area. It’s truly impressive, also the area after you get captured with Luis. It’s a remix of the interior space of the area after the sniper canyon area in the original. Really cool how they managed to remix it the way they did. So many things they’ve done so far with this remake is so astounding, like they didn’t have to go this hard! They could’ve just improved the graphics and left it at that but they really outdid themselves. I can’t wait for the regen labs on the island. I’m buzzing!

WB has had the license for about 15 years now. I did enjoy Shadow of Mordor/War for what they were, but I'm with you. I would love a new, fully fleshed out version of Middle Earth on modern consoles. Give me something like Witcher 3 in Middle Earth.
