If you’re young, you may have not heard of Man Hunt.

It’s a game that’s been banned by many countries, but I’m not sure if it’s banned in the US. I know I played 1 and 2 at the time.

But you’re basically a criminal in a special place where you need to kill the other people. I think it was like a competition. You can kill them in almost any way imaginable, and they were really creative with it. So creative it got banned. It’s a stealth, action type game, but I think it you really wanted to, you could just go up to people and nail gun them in the face.

It wasn’t like a shooter, just bam dead with a nail gun. It was a far more intimate endeavor and every kill was tailored, personal, and tortuous.

I think I speak for many when I say that we only watch the game awards for trailers. I guess it’s cool to see a game you liked win an award, but they don’t really mean anything, and tons of games go unnoticed anyways. No one cares about the rock having a trailer for black Adam at summer games fest, and the celebrities at the game awards have somehow gotten worse when they talk.

Keighley is an opportunistic greedy ass. The only reason game awards exists is because everyone was sick of how expensive E3 was. A prime spot at the game awards is 500,000, so hopefully his show goes the way of E3 too.

I would recommend going for games on a PC. If you don't have one, you can buy a mediocre laptop and just roll with it. It's cheaper and easier to get your hands on than a console. Despite the lack of exclusive titles, there's just a huge amount of games from history that you can access on platforms like Steam or GoG. Steam also has a lot of demos and you can refund almost any game you have less than 2 hrs played on without question.

Here are some of my suggestions...

If you loved Final Fantasy from the days of SNES, get Final Fantasy 10. This game is considered by many to be peak Final Fantasy. The HD Remaster is available on Switch, Playstation, or PC.

Cosmic Star Heroine is a game that's similar to Chrono Trigger in many ways.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Great turn based RPG with plenty of silliness. Decent story too.

If you want a VERY lore heavy series of games, check out the Legend of Heroes games. It starts with Trails into the Sky, followed by Trails to Azure, Trails of Cold Steel (this one is easiest to get into), and Trails into Reverie (coming soon). It is a very slow burn though. Part 1 of each subseries (that's an entire 25 hr game) tends to just be setup for the main story.

The Persona games (Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, Persona 5 Royal) are a little more difficult and half the game is a simulation of a high school dating sim life while the other half is more standard RPG. But, great games overall.

I totally agree, it's infuriating that gamers are so accepting of these zero standards and praising Devs for 'fixing' games years after an initial broken launch. Standards that have been forced upon us and the majority just shrug with a "that's the way it is" statement. It'll likely only get worse as the industry pushes these standards incrementally lower. Bought a new boat that sunk on launch, but hurray the manufacturer refloated the carcass and patched it up over the following 2 years - absolute legends.
