I have several good things to say about Ryza.

  1. Tone. Many games I play these days take a very serious or dark and gritty tone. Ryza, and atelier as a whole, is the opposite. It's bright, colorful, and happy. They just out to tell a wholesome coming of age story. It was like a breath of fresh air when I first played it.

  2. Great sound track.

  3. Best crafting system I have ever played with. Since the story is about a young alchemist just starting to learn her trade, the whole game is built up around the crafting system. Even when you beat bosses, instead of dropping treasure or legendary gear, they drop rare crafting materials. That being said, it also means you will be spending most of your time gathering materials and crafting new items. If that is not your thing, you probably won't like the game.

  4. Very scalable difficulty. Since you craft all of the gear you use, you have a lot of control over the game's challenge. You can choose to make it almost impossible by making trash items, or go full god mode crafting to bring down end games bosses in just a couple hits.

Like others have said, mainly hype. There's I thing called "Hype Culture" - it's mainly a term used in the hypebeast community, but it works for this case. Pretty much people get their expectations too high and get really disappointed with a game, and that's fine to a degree, it's just when people get emotional is when the really angry reviews come in.

you are blaming the wrong people here, I blame the higher ups from CD Project for not only firing most skilled staff who did Witcher 3 but also hire people who has barely any experince and throw them to the deep end which doesn't help with the marketing department just overhyping the game.

>Immersion can mean hundred different things

What I described breaks immersion regardless of this point

>every game can have a feature added to be better, but its misleading and bullshit that people expect this feature because they have GTA in their mind

No, people expect the feature because it's literally in the game and was very poorly executed at launch... You keep making this imaginary connection to GTA like that's the only game genre with police in it lol.

>give scathing remarks about incompleteness of the game in every fucking post. This game doesnt need this feature, its ok as it is and the city is immersive without going on shooting sprees.

Again, has the feature, and was definitely incomplete, even the devs admit they missed the mark on several features in game, so I don't really know what you're defending.

I liked the game, I think it did a lot of things right, doesn't mean I have to ignore what it did wrong still.

Geoff has always been a savage. Ever since he called out Konami for their lawyer bullshit preventing Kojima from accepting his award for MGSV I will support Geoff in everything he does. Because you know for a fact Konami was not okay with him calling them out like that.
