NiGHTS first and foremost. An absolute masterpiece. Panzer Dragoon Saga (it isn't overhyped, it genuinely is as good as "legend" says it is), & Magic Knight Rayearth. They are all phenomenal games. Play through Panzer Dragoon 1 & 2, rip the rest of the Working Designs library, enjoy the 2D fighters, the arcade conversions, etc. The library is phenomenal.

Nope, that's not what I want at all. I'd like NPCs trained on their own back story & ingame lore/facts to deliver unscripted dialogue to unscripted questions that fits that world within the parameters of not breaking plot points or game progression... obviously

I noticed a cool detail about one of Bucky's emotes too. He has that one that calls Captain America's shield and I noticed after switching the skin for Cap that the shield Bucky gets is always the one of the equipped Cap suit. That is a nice attention to detail I didn't think Square Enix would do.

You absolutely have to spend A LOT of time with NiGHTS. Play through Panzer Dragoon Saga, play through Magic Knight Rayearth (at least once; I play through yearly, around Christmas), then there are a ton of fighters, play Burning Rangers, some great Working Designs RPGS/SRPGS. The system had SOOO many once in a lifetime time games. You HAVE to play NiGHTS (a ton), PDS, & MKRayearth, though. Enjoy the system; it makes me the gamer I am today.

It would need some huge changes in order to work on the fly. You need the model to produce information that is

  • consistent with each individual NPC’s role in the game word
  • consistent across different NPC’s
  • consistent with the actual game.

The third is the biggest hurdle now: you can’t have an NPC making up a bunch of lore about the city they came from and telling the player how to get there, only for them to find that the city isn’t actually in the game. Or telling the player about abilities they have but don’t actually exist in the game.

It would also be bad to have NPC’s just spill reveals the player isn’t supposed to know about yet.

The more likely use case is to speed up dialogue creation, with human writers editing and curating ChatGPT’s output to make sure it is consistent with the intended lore and gameplay.

Gameplay is great. The combat system is fun and fairly deep. The exploration leads to some great views.

The music is probably the best music in gaming. Not hyperbole.

The graphics and design are really nice and suit the game well.

The gacha sucks, but is not required at all to enjoy the game.

The community in game has always been super nice to me. The community on reddit is..a mixed bag. The community anywhere else is..worse.
