This desperately needs an edit where someone puts a beat to it.

It isn’t as common as it once was but, there are still some people out there on turntables. A-Track is a modern day legend

Yes, meaning that scratching wasn't a thing until the 70's and today isn't (usually) done with a vinyl record on a turntable.

What DJs (not radio DJs) do now compared to back then is like comparing Disney's Fantasia to Toy Story. Sure, they're both animated and Disney, but the tools, techniques and basically everything is different.

It's a squirrel, I thought it was a mechanical spider, then I thought it was three birds, the one in the back looking out for them

The electric company should give him a snow-clearing contract. He probably works for peanuts.

Do DJ's not scratch anymore? Scratching goes back to the 70's so that's a few generations a this point.

Yes some still scratch. Mostly turntablists or dj's that play Hip Hop and other broken beat styles of music, D&B, Breaks, Dubstep etc. Generally the more important scratching is to a dj the more likely they are to still use an actual turntable or their digital equivalent. Trying to scratch with a CD or media player doesn't feel the same. It's harder and they feel like a toys in comparison to a Technics turntable. You really need the rotational mass of the turntable for scratching.
Dj's like myself that play electronic music typically use CD/media players, Midi Controllers or DVS (digital vinyl system). Although I still have my turntables and I actually just bought a third but not for djing. I just don't use turntables for djing much anymore. I use a midi controller for djing now, DVS before that and turntables before that. I don't scratch. You can do a lot more with the digital stuff like sampling and looping.
