What is "too many"?

Had a chance to demo the Elites at home for a few days and they won me over with such a pleasant, easygoing sound with great bass. That with the comfort and design made it the most kickback and chill headphone I've heard in long time. It had me doing the calculus about how I could get one.

Are the Empyreans different enough from the Elites for it to make sense to own both? Besides the money factor, of course.

My experience with center image in music is that it tends to sound more βin your head.β The only way to really get a truly out of your head experience with headphones is when a track is mixed with that in mind or if you use an audio engine/dsp to simulate it.
Headphones are stereo devices by default. Good imaging on a stereo spectrum means pinpoint positioning of audio between far left and far right.
I commonly see people mention imaging in gaming and while it can be achieved (there are many game engines that support positional audio as well as simulate surround audio) the reality is that not all games support imaging through headphones. So keep that in mind if you plan to use your headphones for gaming.

I could be the K612 Pro because I'm rather good but I need big power to drive my brain. XD

Those are price categories and not quality ones to begin with and they are not well defined. I'd say <200, 200-700, 700< and maybe some silly summit-fi on top. It makes sense to use them since usually people are coming with a budget in mind and even if in general price doesn't correlate with sound quality it is still true that the good options at a price level are most better than the good options in a lower level. There arr just so many bad ones in all price ranges that the correlation is broken.

Glasses with very thin temples are the solution, mine are about 0.5mm and I can't feel them wearing glasses.

More importantly, where are these doctors that charge $35 for people without insurance? That's less than most copays these days.

Where can I buy a pair of HD600 for $35?

One last thing,
Is it normal for the center imaging to be in the middle of your head or is it supposed to be in front of your face?

The other thing I noticed with these is there is no left/right panning for imaging. The sound starts in one ear and just jump to the next. It just leaps from 3 o'clock to 9 o'clock without any imaging in the 2 through 10.

The other issue I see is tonality. It is pretty easy to tell my LCD-5 and 6XX apart just based off of their tuning. You could try EQing both to some target to try to minimize which would be interesting with the other blind folded stuff. Just would have to make sure all headphones could take the EQ because a 6XX just canβt handle sub bass as well so definitely a roll off like the 6XX has naturally.

The look, feel and comfort of the Empyrean truly is something else.
It is the only outrageously expensive headphone that nearly made me forget its asking price with build quality alone.

I want to, but I just worry, I don't want to mess with the integrity of the intended clarity of the headphone.. which is why I feel ok with using the harman EQ because at least that has been fine tuned

Awesome thanks. I was using a blind 10,000hz high shelf at like -9 but knowing that I'm using the recommended high shelves feels better overall now. (Plus the clarity peak at band 9)

The Beyerdynamic DT1990. I seem bright and exciting at first, but everything good about me is surface level and I'm actually quite mediocre.
