CORRECTION: 6.3mm not 4.4mm but nevertheless this is strange. This is my second pair of HD 560s and the cable is also noticeably nicer than the previous.

edit: The first pair I bought a month ago from Best Buy and it came with the really shitty cable and adapter. I can't A/B test between the two since I gifted it to a friend but I don't think there is a difference in sound.

I love the 660’s speed and overall feel. But felt it was not enough mid presence like the spectacular HD60”‘a mids, and significantly too dark in the treble and not quite enough sub bass.

Let’s hope for another “Grey speckled recycled plastic” classic HD6__, hopefully in a l three Grey color than the HD600 old speckled charcoal color.

And with all the technical advantages of the HD660, but with the exact same tuning from 500hz-5khz as the HD600, air like the HD800s, and sub bass like the HD650.

This would finally get me to own and keep my very first sennheiser

This is a common statement on this thread but I would start with getting your ears cleaned. There is something wrong with my left ear tubes and and I will get the buzzing in it when I have a wax buildup.

I use warm water while I'm in the shower. You'd be surprised what that can work loose. I'll couple that with hydrogen peroxide (diluted!!!!!!) if they feel really dirty and then rinse out with warm water. Doctors say not to to stick anything in your ears but I always follow up with twisted up paper towels to finish up.

I was so afraid of this when I was buing my Hd 560S senns. I wanted them mainly for everyday desktop use, but I also needed something more precise while producing and mixing foley sounds for our animations at work.

I was so wrong. They soun'd like haven to me in everything I do.

DT 770 80 ohm are meant for studio listening. They produce very clean sound - but what you get out is what you put in. I wouldn't use them for gaming, in general. Might sound too clinical.

Imo, For gaming you want a wide sound stage and good bass. I'd use something open back to get that "surround sound" feel that most closed backs can't emulate.

Classic set. No matter what other options exist I will always have a pair as they were my first pair of decent headphones, and having them for years they're extremely familiar sounding to me, so if i just need to know what something sounds like without having to think about it I still reach for these a lot because I know how they're gonna sound with what I'm listening to. If you have these for years, then the same thing may happen to you even if you get other headphones in the future. Congrats!

And as for what you should test it out on, test it out on a song with some sort of sentimental meaning to you. It could be a song you heard on the radio as a kid at a certain time or something from a movie that left an impact on you or whatever, just find the song that means something to you. Sometimes, with a decent set of headphones, you hear things in that song that you didn't hear before and it makes it feel like you're listening to it for the first time again. When you find the right song played on the right headphones, it's an incomparable feeling.

This, and also I think a lot of non-audiophile types expect too much when trying out a pair of high-end headphones (high-end to them, mid-fi to most of us).

Usually this is because an audiophile has hyped up their gear before having their friend try it out. They expect to be blown away, but that hardly ever happens.

Unless all they’ve known is super crappy headphones, and you’re having them tryout a flagship set like HD800S, their reaction is probably going to be something close to OP’s.
