I wasn't saying that they sound the same, but I'm too tired to argue.

One question - why do you think it's me who justifies any purchases and not you? The term "justifying purchase" works both ways, that's why it's stupid by design and grown people don't use it in discussions.

Also, people who talk about ears right from the start are almost guaranteed to not have any. That's my personal experience.

The k612 is a $200 headphone? You honestly think that sounds the same as a set costing several thousands? Man, I almost wish I had your ears, could save myself some money. I'll take having good ears and being able to tell what real quality is though. You seem to just want to justify your purchase and shit on others. Maybe it's time to put the keyboard away and go listen to some music!

Absolutely; as much as I am passionately in love with my Dawns, part of my reason for wanting to try open-back is that I do feel cut off wearing IEMs - I have no idea the wife wants me until I jump out of my skin when she taps me on the shoulder.

As the Dawn and XS aren't far off price-wise I would expect them to be equally good, just different, so I would be very interested in the thoughts of someone who has tried both but your experience is useful, thanks.

I'll keep my Senhiessser HD800s and hifi stereo. I'm sure this guy thinks that the 650s can be EQd to sound like the HD800s' though. 😂

Ive had a few dozen pairs of headphones as well before I found my ultimate setups, even then I rotate between them depending on the listening situation. I'm laughing so hard at this guy trying to argue and insult you, even taking the time to switch threads to keep arguing.

I have experience with some similar headphones / IEMs. Namely Anandas and Moondrop Variations (also Focal Clear Pros).

The Variations absolutely shit on the Anandas (and Clears) for detail / critical listening.

That said, the Anandas add a great sense of openness, that I'm somewhere in the middle of a big world.

My overall take would be to expect it to be a different experience, rather than inherently a better all-round experience. Definitely worthwhile to have the different setup (it's also good to be able to hear when my partner is calling for me to come deal with a spider, etc.).

I ran the Anadas and Clears off a Topping D10s and Schiit Magni Heresy, and that setup did very well (now running a SMSL SU-8s and Singxer SA-1). I'd suggest trying the gear you have already, and then adjusting if you feel you need to.

It's pronounced exactly how you think it is. Why? Exactly because of why we're talking about it right now. If it weren't so, we wouldn't be talking about their brand name rn to give them free marketing.

IEMs and headphones have different presentations, so it's more about your preference (I personally prefer IEM even when at desk), although being an open back edition xs will surely have better soundstage and likely better detail too. BTR 5 will run them just fine, heck I even used cheap DC03 to run old inefficient Audeze LCDs. Not sure if headphones respond to cable though.

I experienced a massive increase in game audio quality by going from some logitechs to DT-990s, but that may have been due to them being open backs. I definitely think you're hearing artifacting though, which is the downside to high-end equipment. It's like suddenly noticing bad / dated CGI on your new OLED TV.

I do see your point and do agree with you in a way, but they got a good present so let them just enjoy them. I have a pair, sure they aren't the best sounding for music listening even compared to headphones the same price or less but they aren't bad. Brilliant for recording, live mixing and picking out small details and very portable and practical with the way it can fold whilst not drawing much power and therefore able to be powered by mobile phones and other similar devices without a dedicated amp. Great studio headphones which is what they are designed for. I personally don't use them much for listening to music for enjoyment because of how narrow sounding they are and the comfort isn't the best but they are still great headphones.
