If you aren’t sensitive to the higher frequencies and want more bass then 100% get the 1990. The sen 6 series just doesn’t have any subbass or at least enough for me. However for vocals or any instruments they sound really nutty

Been a few years, but I recall the Vmoda M100 having one of the absolute best sound signatures for EDM and hip hop. Bass heavy with some tasteful sparkle up top to keep things exciting, it's definitely a headphone worthy of being in the permanent rotation for closed backs.

The DT 700 Pro X will have a more versatile sound signature and is more resolving. Both are built incredibly well. Comfort will have to go to the DT 700 Pro X, but if one opts for the XL pads for the Vmodas it narrows down to just a slight edge in favor of the beyers.

Both are amazing headphones!

I only looked through these comments a bit and saw a bunch of people saying you might not need an amp. I’d definitely argue you should get an amp/dac combo around the $200 range if you can. I think what you have might power it “fine” but the loudness you will get out of them is going to be severely hindered. Even my old hd598 sounds better with some power than with my phone or computer and it requires less power than what you have

Except USB-C cables. My mortal enemy that I hate beyond all reason. I have 8 on my desk, 2 transfer data 10Gbit/s, 1 transfers 480Mbit/s, 2 do not transfer data at all. but 1 of them turbo charges my phone the other one charges only at normal speed, also out of all of them only 1 of them works with my computer monitor.

They are all the same, all black cables with usb-c on one end and uncolored usb 2 / 3 /3.1 looking end at the other end. No markings of anykind on anyone of them...

So I am a metalhead mostly, rap, and many other genres.

I am Thinking of getting an Ananda, grado 325x, meze 109 pro as an open back I can drive without much hassle.

For closed back I can use it at work and maybe travel with. I don't care much for noise cancelling features. audio Technica ath-900, audio Technica msr7b, momentum 4.

Can you tell a difference between a FLAC file and 320kbps mp3's? Really? Honestly? I am not doubting you can. A lot of people can't and that is fine.

If you can, that's great. If not, there is absolutely no reason to get aftermarket cables.

If you can, then know that aftermarket cables will have an even more imperceptible better sound quality. They may be technically better (99.9% silver or whatever other marketing gimmick they will throw at you), but it will be extremely hard to tell any difference.

The only good thing about aftermarket cables is that it means you can replace your original cable if it gets damaged.

Companies really love to make TWS since it is easy to manufacture and has relatively short lifespan compared to phones, etc. This way they ensure on consumer to buy one on the average of 2 years or so.

From the consumers side, there is value in convenience. Most people will definitely trade off SQ to get a pair of convenient TWS.

The Schiit stack will make an excellent gift and a great excuse for you to upgrade. :)

I think your post is old enough now that you would probably benefit from re-creating it and adding more details + specifics so that people can better help you.

r/HeadphoneAdvice/ might also be a good place to get suggestions. I would also include your budget.
