I think it depends on which model and also what you're driving them from. I'm not an expert on them, this is just based on what I've heard from others. Particularly in this price range. However, I do know that the T5 are known for their bass presentation. They would be at a higher price point though.

Also the Apple DAC dongle compared to Macbook m1 DAC is so much better it's kinda crazy

HD600 is bang for buck. Any version of HD6?? really. If you want something clearly better, then you need a lot more cash; like 1kGBP.

More like birthday which sits nicely in the middle of the year. I got the JDS element 3 for my own headphones but I might look at something cheaper for him since he isnt as invested as I am in audio. The Audioquest dragonflys look interesting. Or I might go see what my local hifi stores have on sale. For now he is happy about how it sounds and it dosnt sound terrible plugged straight into his PC as a temporary thing.

I own both. I consider my hd600 as a daily "chillax" headphone whereas i could easily part with my 1990 and miss only the insane build quality and wow factor when I need to "hear every detail".

Amplifier for Valentine's Day?

Get a cheap external amp like a Topping DX1, the HD600 may get enough volume from your ipad or PC but more than likely won't sound full/sound "dead" as compared when it's amped.
