I know 50 Cent In Da Club has well produced bass, and good headphones will separate the different types of bass. Before I thought there was only bass, but with better headphones I learned there are 3 different types of bass in the song and it's fun to be able to differentiate then.

I would recommend the Qudelix 5K. In case he want to use BT or EQ down the road.

The only way I can make the sound out of PC as good as from my Iphone is by using an external DAC and WASAPI (it bypasses windows sound/enhancements). Although, if you want to EQ with WASAPI you need to do through Roon (which is very much recommended but cannot be used with Apple Music).

Yeah, you will need something with parametric eq to enable it. I have set it up on my RME dac, on PC with Peace equalizer and on my android DAP with USB Audio Player Pro. You can look here for preset for your headphones link

If you don't mind me asking, what are you using as your portable source? Just curious because I've been looking at the btr5k and btr3k and the aria's.

I always wished I started with HD6xx series to see what the fuss is about and later upgrade to HD800S. Now I'm not sure if going back to try them after listening to HD800S is worth it.

I wouldn't get the Fiio, if you want it for the PR1 Pro, get the KZ AZ09 Pro, it fits that perfectly and sounds great on it too. It's more comfortable and much cheaper too, and the whole package is smaller than the Fiio.

I checked with my MMCX-2 pin adapters, the PR1 will not fit in the case at all with these, it's not possible to squash it in because the hook would be out of the case then. There might be a chance with the angled adapters, but I wouldn't do it when there is a cheaper alternative that fits it perfectly.

Get the AZ09 Pro which is great.
