I ordered as soon as they started the sale (on the 24th), was waiting for Burson 3X GT but settled for some other gear I was going to get anyways. Prob just way too many orders after they started the sale

Melb here too, I guess they just hate me... I ordered the new 8kg Burson headphone rack and the Topping A90 Discrete headphone amp, and a few more cables...

I’m curious, when you heard the Elegia, how did you find they compared to the Clear?

Apparently Focal’s original goal with the Elegia was to try to create a closed back Clear, but while people seem to like the Elegia, I get the impression it’s fairly different from the Clear.

Magni Heresy? You're actually not fine, only the new Magni + and Magni Heretic have built-in DC protection, the originals were directly DC coupled and an 'accident' is not entirely impossible (although very unlucky).

The extra little circuit might explain the price rise over $99..

S12 are one of my daily drivers. I've just seen a review on the Hexa from Resolve and I'm intrigued. There is quite a buzz around them. How does it compare? I've been thinking my next iem purchase will be the dunu Sa6 as a step up from my Er4xr (which are currentlyy favourite set). Would I find much use with the Hexa?

I haven’t personally heard them, but I’ve been doing a ton of research on that very question lately.

The impression I’ve gotten from all the reviews I’ve read and YouTube videos I’ve watched (including sound comparisons) seems to come down to this:

The Celestee is more balanced and well-rounded, but the Elegia is more interesting and more exciting.

If you just want one all-purpose headphone, the Celestee is a better bet. But if you already have a headphone collection and want something interesting and exciting to add, the Elegia is a better option. It’s more polarizing, in that some people absolutely love it, while others feel it has some strangeness in the upper bass and mids (which can be fixed via EQ and/or a pad swap).

Basically, the Elegia is a more interesting headphone, whereas the Celestee is a safer option that’s more of a crowdpleaser, but may come across as a bit boring to some.

I should stress that that’s not my personal opinion, as I haven’t heard either, but I’ve done hours and hours of research over the last few days, leading me to place an order for the Elegia earlier today.

Well there we go, if we're taking harman over-ear target as the "right" sound, i absolutely agree with what you've said. K6/K7 line are thin and K371 is better than aforementioned. I do find it a little weird that you think that K612 are sharp, while i can agree that they're on the brighter side of neutral in terms of upper-mids and treble, probably your ears are more sensitive in these areas, then mine, that or i'm just a fan of bright sound.

But then i prefer IEF target. Again, harman is fun, but i simply don't like it. I'm not going to talk anything about professional work, as i do not have expertise in that, but for me, i do prefer not having that elevated bass, which harman has, and with that said, maybe you'll understand my point of saying that both K702 and K612 at least aren't thin, and at most are good headphones nonetheless.

Going back to the point of headphones changing sound with amplification, i don't have any other examples other than K702 of this effect. Again, I will check once i'll come home either confirming your point, or remaining of mine. I do think that Beyerdynamic T1 has same characteristics, but i'm saying that not off my experience, but rather off people saying things on internet.

Yeah those issues made me hesitant at first but I know I'll be taking extra care of them considering the price. Unfortunately I've not found any place to try these headphones since most stores only seem to carry Sony, Bose and Beats. I ordered them through Amazon though so I think I'll have a good amount of time to test them and see if they are what I'm looking for. Thanks so much for all the help!
