Definitely comfortable headphones yes :) I've got led zeppelin playing at moment which sounds pretty good. I've been listening to sennheiser hd250bt and was really impressed with the sound considering they are wireless so thought I'd take a chance on these :)

To reitirate my other comment:

I tried the ZMF Velour and they definitely make them sound slightly more anemic and distant because of the thicker pads compared to stock, the bass is just a tiny bit more recessed... definitely not my cup of tea.

I had the HD599 for a couple years, and it definitely did not need an amp, but I definitely noticed some improvement when amping. It won’t be as dramatic a difference as you’d see with higher impedance headphones. They’re among the most comfortable headphones I ever had, though, and they’re great for more laid back music.

If you are, it's just finding the right music. At the end of the day all of this is just about enjoying what you listen to; as much as we like to focus on the gear, the gear is meaningless without the jams.

I came from a Sansa Clip Plus, the problem I encountered with M0 was no scrolling in the UI - e.g. 4 albums from 1 artist so had to guess which album I was accessing. Of course the UI's have so many different access methods but I'm rather stuck in my ways because I'm old.

Otherwise I really recommend the M0, great sound, size and feel.

I usually box up my headphones and wear one for a few months.

then swap out of the blue to get that instant change in sound without being used to it.

I needed some comfortable passive sound isolation so wanted some closed backs and picked up Dan Clark Noires for a good deal. Packed up my other headphones and am gonna use these for a month. I've never used planars before but now I understand why people love them now (and these arent even the most sought after planars).

I just keep my KSC75's on hand for when im around the house doing things and need beats to kill time with.

The Auteur is probably the closest thing to a direct upgrade from the HD6XX/HD650, but it's hard to say the price bump justifies the quality increase unless dropping that amount of fun-money isn't a huge deal to you. I went with the Verite because it was both an upgrade in almost all respects, and different. But truth be told, I have barely used the 6XX since the Verite arrived.

To be fair, I did not upgrade, but instead side-grade (and bought some novelty headphones and vintage stuff for the fun of it). And that timbre/natural sound aspect is exactly why I’m never selling them. I’ve only heard one headphone in my (rather limited) experience that sounded better in that regard than the 650/6XX (or the 600 as well).

Well, and ZMF… they’re absolutely gorgeous, and if I ever get to try them, my wallet will be crying too.

My HD6XX, with the Magni-Modi, are still hooked up to the old PC one desk over from my new one. I stuck with the 6XX for I think three years largely because I could not figure out what would be a clear upgrade. I did not want to lose the natural timbre and richness of the HD6XX sound, and basically everything felt like a sidegrade rather than an upgrade for way more money. Better (and sometimes much better) in some respects, but often worse in respects I did not think it would be worthwhile to compromise.

And then there was ZMF. And my wallet was sad.

I have one (the pro model) which I'm using with a pair of 99 Classics through 4,4 mm balanced, actually listening to this set up as I'm writing this comment. :)

I like it a lot. Use it mostly as a Roon endpoint through WiFi. Very convenient. No need for a lot of cables and separates devices.
