Yea I had listed a budget and mentioned the concept of diminishing returns after a certain price point , 80/20 rule etc. this thread and OP have already been way life helpful :)

They'd moved on to MGs by the time Clears were on my radar, or I might have gone with them as well.

Went with Clears myself after reading about it as an upgrade to the 6XX. Definitely felt that way after having them.

They 660S are finally getting there place in the sun. Similar to when the 650 was introduced as a different flavour to the beloved 600/580 series.

You got awful advice. HD6XX with a schiit stack is really tough to beat on value.

These things are amazing, and easy to drive, too. I've never had my windows volume past 12% for these things and I'm just driving them off my motherboard

Like many have said, thanks. But also if you wanna avoid having him get you another pair of headphones ever again, say you'll take care of them so that they can last you a long time. It'll make him happy and also think you don't need another pair anytime soon.

I bought one of these for myself and absolutely loved them, so I thought he'd like one too. He doesn't have the best financial conditions right now, and we're from Brazil, so that 10 dollar earphone really upset him considering he actually took good care of it. I hope he likes these, and that they last at least a bit more.

Reply to comment by Raephstel in Is the Fiio BTR7 using AptX Bluetooth? And will I hear sound degradation compared to wired? And will Quedelix release a newer model soon? by ostuniman
Ok got it. I just found out that my iPhone, with Apple Music, won’t support Aptx if using BT. It uses its Aac and therefore not CD Quality sound.
But if plugged in, then its CD quality.

I've been using Bluetooth DAC/amps for around three years, usually with LDAC or LHDC, I don't perceive a big difference from when the device is connected by cable.

I'm so tempted by them. Unfortunately I have to sell my Elites to get a new PC so I'm trying to decide between some used Arya V2s (had V3s before the Elites) or some 109 Pros. Both basically the same price. Tempted to go Arya and pick up some 109s anyway after my PC is sorted out.

You say thanks. He clearly doesn’t understand your hobby but he’s trying his best. Be thankful he cares. Be kind, he won’t be around forever.

It was a gift, so thank you works. Also, keep it as a backup in case one of your other pairs goes kaput or you have a young niece or nephew getting into gaming.

That seems excessive. If it helps I tend to look into basic but high(ish) end equipment when venturing into new territory then buy in. Not everyone needs $3000 setups and the rate of return between this ~$500 setup and that $3000 one may be smaller than it looks.

Saw your post after posting this and realised how similar our images look hahaha. But yeah I agree sounds more neutral than the 'V-shape' that the fr graphs show. Thats probably what gives it its spicyness.

Yeah I’ve gotten aftermarket cables from Fog City Audio and have been very happy with the quality. They don’t tangle, good terminations, can even get custom splitters.

Another radiance owner! Just got mine today and I’m currently still testing it out. Really neutral sound with good clarity, didn’t expect that based on the FR.

I don’t even bother with EQ on my Sennheisers. I could never get them to sound any better than it’s stock tuning. Any adjustments to the EQ seems to make my HD 600 and 660S quite muddy.
