The price of under $10? I'd say so, but that's just me. If you want to know if it's worth a couple of grand for the headphones they are made for, I'd say, that's a harder question.

If you lined up every current flagship and these Koss with the pad mod, then asked me to blindly pick my favourite without any knowledge of what I was actually listening to. I am certain I would have always pick these 100% of the time, since forever.

Sure, I'd notice they aren't as detailed, and probably lack in various areas, but if it's just about what sounds best to me. They would take it.

And that's comming from someone who owned the eye wateringly expensive Grado flagship headphones these wacky pads are designed for. Also a highly engineerd and analytical Beyerdynamic flagship, and the highly detailed classic Koss electrostatic flagship. Plus about 16 pairs of mid-fi.

I've also heard most of the current flagships that get all the buzz around here.

These hacked up budget Koss do not have the features or qualities that make people drop thousands of dollars for a flagship....

To me. These just make the music breathtakingly beautiful. That is all.

Even the handpicked Grado and Koss Electrostatic flagships I picked out, that aren't conventional flagships, didn't make music that sounded as beautiful to me as these do.

It took me thousands of dollars and a lot of swallowed pride to learn that I don't care about chasing some perfect target or vison. When I'm totally honest with myself very few headphones at crazy price points speak to me the way a pair of these cheap little headphones with some sub $10 Grado (correction:) g-crush pads do.

I'm not saying I didn't enjoy the ride and experience, but honestly, these and some other experiences slayed my perception of what high quality sound is to me.

I've given up on flagships at this point. I have a couple of my favourite mid-fi pairs around that cover all my needs better.

So. If the question is, is it worth a few dollars for some pads to put on a sub $100 pair of headphones. I'd say. I don't know your life, but if you are buying up budget Koss, then yeah there is a darn good chance they are worth it.

Sennheiser HD6XX (or HD600 if you find it on sale, $350 is a bit steep when the 6xx is $200) is a pretty safe choice.

If you really want to see what more treble sounds like, try the Moondrop Chu. I got both and literally returned it because the treble was too much for me. But for my ears, Beyerdynamic headphones are much too shrill. So take my advise with a grain of salt lol

You will be able to tell the difference btw. If not... You need to have hearing aids. Un the way of staying safe, I've struggled with focal, 2 headphones so far that bonked out on me. Hifiman does really well, my sundaras have been kicking it for 3 years with heavy use. But, to stay extremely safe it this way, just take a look at senny, they have good qual control.

Harman incorporates a dip in the upper bass-lower mids, which is part of where the 6X0 line gets it’s beloved vocal tonality/characteristic.

I personally don’t find Harman bad, but it’s not quite my actually preference. Tad bassy, tad lean /pulled back in the mids, and a tad sharp around 10-11k for my ears. It feels kind of like a step towards v-shaped/U-shaped, and I like my mids too much for that.

The K7 is a really tempting purchase, but I unfortunately don't have room for it. I am currently using an Asus Zephryus G14 Gaming laptop as my daily driver and it only has 2 USB-A ports. One of them is occupied to an hard drive dock and the other is plugged in as a hub to the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9. There is no chance in hell that I am plugging the K7 or the hard drive dock to the Neo G9's USB Hub. I am just going to have to wait until I can build my desktop PC.

Unless the K7 can use a USB-B to USB-C cable on their USB port, then I may be able to use it since I have a usb-c port to spare

The selling point for me on the K7 is that it has a 4.4mm balanced jack...a perfect place to plug in my HD800S

Edit: Turns out it can accept USB-B to USB-C cable since the K7 can be used with mobile phones too. I will wait for it to be on sale since I already purchased a Neo G9 during Black Friday

Further to that: I use a bottlehead crack amp and for me it's the perfect balance. Soundstage bass impact, mids, details of the headphone - and the warmth and body of the tube amp. This combination had me stop the never-ending upgrade twitch :-)

I’ve seen people say the treble has been bothersome for them and then others say the treble hasn’t been a problem. Luckily for me the treble hasn’t been an issue which is odd because I consider myself to have sensitive ears.
