I hope you made that phone call. If you did, I hope you and he spent hours talking on the phone about precisely nothing. I miss my dad and have had a lot of moments in the last 16 years where I’ve wanted to pick up the phone to tell him about shit that’s happening in my life or about new things his youngest grandchild is doing and I can’t.

Mine died 16 years ago. The first Christmas after he passed was hell. Dad not being around for Christmas wasn’t odd - he was in the merchant navy so it wasn’t unusual for him to be away for Christmas. But knowing that he wasn’t coming back was hell.

I want to tell you it gets better, and I can tell you that it does, but it takes a lot longer than it feels like it should.

depends entirely on their sensitivity... possibly very easily.

You can just EQ that if you really wanna try it. Most headphones start to roll off around 10khz anyway. Also, most “information” is below 10khz. Not saying it’s completely unimportant since cymbals and synths still reach those frequencies and you’ll lose that sense of air if it sharply rolls off after 10khz.

The only headphones I can think of at the moment (that I’ve owned) with high treble extension are the DCA Aeon and Beyerdynamic DT 990. Take out the tuning inserts on the Aeons and they’re treble monsters. Beyers can be found for relatively cheap ($129 for the DT 990 Pro on Amazon) if you wanna check them out.

I'm not hearing anything, but I'm only using the 3.5mm output. The 4.4mm, coupled with the Tripowin Zowie cable, altered the sound of the Variations in a way that is unpleasant to me. Which is wild because neither is supposed to significantly change the sound.

The funny thing is a lot of these old headphones that are between 1000-4000ohms are meant to be run on crystal radios. No external power, just the energy in the radio waves themselves are what supplies power to the radio and headphones

I found these headphones online, and I don't understand how you would be able to run 1500 ohm headphones. I wanted to find some headphones that looked kind of like these but I want to see of someone can mod the with new drivers. I came across these and was stunned because I had not seen over 600 ohms.

According to the graphs, the chu has more 3-5khz treble, but most reviewers think that both the chu and the zero have the same amount of upper treble (8-20khz) treble extension. I'm talking about the really high frequencies, the 4-6khz harshness in the chu (as I can see in the graph) is probably what caused the "too much treble" phenomenon.
