With a load impedance that high you'll mostly be concerned about providing sufficient voltage. Current draw (and hence power) won't be high due to the high load impedance.

I use oratory’s harman preset but I half the bass at 105 hz down from 5.5 to 2.75 and it’s the perfect sounding headphone in my experience. Lifts the veil, adds some punch to the low end, etc. generally the perfect sound for me.

I should note that in this configuration the ananda is actually superior but comfort and durability wise I’m not so sure. And my 600 also had worn pads too, so with fresh pads the 600 would probably still compete

USB-C implies Android—Wavelet is an EQ app that works with all music players and you can add bass & dampen treble to your heart’s content. Some apps like Spotify also have a basic EQ built into them.

Dongles aren’t supposed to alter the sound profile, and even if they did it is of limited usefulness if the effect is something that can’t be tweaked at all. It’s just DSP at the end of the day, there’s no benefit to doing it blindly in the dongle rather than via a controlled EQ setting.

The difference between a $180 and $1800 pair is not that big. The $180 set gets you like 95%, the hyper expensive shit gets you 5% on top, or some such. Furthermore, high price doesn't have to mean anything except that it's priced high. It doesn't have to be that great just because it costs.

If you want a good set, pick up a FiiO K5 Pro, or a FiiO K7 for amp, and then a pair of Sennheiser HD58X Jubilee off Drop dot com. That will still run you over $300 for the set but I'd be shocked if you were displeased. Disclaimer: I have the HD58X myself so I'm biased af.

I tried the HD 600 yesterday in a store. Nothing special for me, prefer my DT 770 a lot more.

Might have something to do with the fact that the guy only let me use Youtube 🤣

Same. From here, you're just chasing diminishing returns. I'm sure I could find something slightly nicer for like a thousand bucks, but I'd rather have the thousand bucks and enjoy the awesome sound quality.

Honestly, this isn't basic bitch anymore, this is way better than the vast majority of humanity does. This is pretty solid upper mid range.

I should upgrade my headphone amp. The FiiO K7 looks killer.

Well I tried these AutoEQ curves for my headphones - DT 770 pro, Airpods Pro, Shure SRH240A and I just prefer the headphones as they are.

I don't understand why everyone is so in love with these presets (Oratory for example, but I also tried Crinacle and some others, and also SoundID Reference).
