600 owners are such snobs, lol. 660s has the best (read: widest) soundstage to my ears out of that lineup. Although if you wanted more bass and treble, the other two do have more quantity. Then again, to my ears, the treble is better defined in the 660 (especially with a smidge of an air boost via EQ).

I would second that you can get used to it. It used to be an absolute deal breaker for IEMs with me, and even though I still find over ears more comfortable, the plugged ear effect doesn’t bother me nearly as much as it used to. I would think if you have mic monitoring enabled that should help rather than hurt, it provides that feedback of your voice that you’re missing.

That's because you're literally plugging your ears. Your best bet would be something like the raptgo hook X, which is a more open design, or clip ons like some of the koss offerings.

As a rule of thumb, the more isolating, the more you will hear your own voice. That's why I only use open backs for playing games while on discord.

The maxes are really nothing to scoff at! Much more refined than the sonys, boses, and beats of the world. Maybe not Bathys level sound quality (I haven't felt like trying them at my local dealers), but from what I've seen here, Focals build quality can be a bit sketchy.

"I DON'T LIKE SUNDARA"

Now that I've got your attention, let me explain. I absolutely love audio and I'm a big fan of HiFi. I am a fan of planar drivers and wanted a nice pair of headphones. The Sundara ticked all the boxes. I got them and the audio is absolutely wonderful. The most comfortable headphones I've ever used. I have used a lot of IEMs and I can't tell if something is wrong with me, my taste or the Sundara. I just feel like IEMs offer significantly higher immersion with music than my Sundara does. I still like them don't get me wrong, but even basic $100 HiFi IEMs feel more immersive.

Is anyone experiencing something similar? I kept my Sundara anyway because they're just that comfortable and good but I rarely actually touch them :(

So drop used the 8 year old headband design and slapped it on the 2017 400i driver. Both of those parts had known issues and were phased out by Hifiman. Drop bought them at a massive discount as spare parts, put the 2 together and sold them as if they were new and relevant. This is a drop problem. Do your research people.

Nice setup!

Some people are showing so much hate towards hd660s lately on reddit, especially those who are into HD600 and HD650, that I am doubting if I made a good choice. Although, I very much like HD660s in terms of midrange and vocals, they sound just great. If it had good highs, soundstage and bass as well, I guess it would be priced at 800$ rather than 300$ currently on amazon.

No? Why would I? I have been buying all the music I want ever since I was 14. In fact, there has been a time where spotify was missing quite a bit of the underground stuff I listen to.

If I feel like I need something new, I usually go on a bandcamp/youtube deep dive to find new artists, whose albums I can then buy.

I don't know what exactly are you looking for but when it comes to bass, DT990 and K702 are similar in terms of dynamics. The difference is the bass on DT990 is a bloated muddy mess while K702 is rather neutral. K712's bass is similarly neutral to K702 but it sounds noticeably more dynamic/engaging and more refined in the treble.
