Honestly, Sony DAPs measured at ASR or L7 Audiolab thus far have been really really poor.

I'd not get my hopes up, if I were you.

In the meantime, instead of waiting for Sony to get it's shit together, check out the few DAPs that actually perform really well.

It will outspec the previous entry dap from sony. But it is gonna be a stretch beat offerings like the Shanling m3 ultra or even the M3X which you can still get from linsoul. The zx707 does look like the much better option of the 2. As for use as a dac it will be interesting to see how it compares to the apple dongle

Exactly. I didn’t like the Sundara and HE400SE. I could see how they were great but they just weren’t for me.

No, I was comparing them based on mainly youtube reviews. I wish I could test them along with different other headphones before ordering, but unfortunately, these headphones weren't available at the time at musical shops where I live.
