Aptx Low Latency/ adaptive probably.

I never understood why you'd use Bluetooth for gaming.

I mean, you are sitting perfectly still at one spot, which is the perfect condition for a wired connection.

I have argued with people about that. They think that theoretical considerations about Fourier transformations are all they need to understand.

They lack the understanding that real systems are not of infinite bandwidth. Especially headphones.

So that response is more important than they think, and it cannot be derived by just looking at 20Hz-30kHz response.

Don't get an IEM for gym... They'd most definitely gonna suffer from moisture build up since they're not sweat resistant.

Get some TWS with good IP rating that is decently tuned and you're good to go. If I can know which phone you'd be pairing with I can readily suggest an IEM with a lean presentation u/ducky92fr

I didn't click this expecting to see my setup!

I think it's pretty good, though I do find the Grados quite piercing in the treble range. Also the Grado headphone wires are super heavy which is unwieldy when moving around and especially when it has such a small dongle attached to it.

Do not, under any circumstances, touch the EQ on the BTR5. I'm not sure if it's just a problem via the app or from the device itself, but, apparently it can brick it. All I know is I changed it and now the BTR5 (2021) will not talk to my receiver.

I have both and prefer the sound on Open version, Closed sound more muddy (it's not as clear sound - lowering bass in EQ helps a bit).
Comfort wise, the Closed are way ahead, that's why I have ordered some mesh memory foam ear pads from Geekria on Amazon. Open have normal foam which is stiff and not as comfy and not breathable too! My ears get hotter in the Open version.

Be aware that Closed version is a bit heavier than Open, personally I notice it straight away.

My previous headphones were Sennheiser HD560s and I must say H6pro Open version comes close although HD560s are way better for listening to music, for gaming (any game) I prefer EPOS H6pro - comfier + microphone + okay sound too.

Sure, but like you said, it’s a phase shift in the frequency domain. It doesn’t alter the magnitude of the FR spectrum, just the imaginary vs real distribution. For the purposes of measuring audio equipment, we can pretty safely ignore that distinction you raise, and it doesn’t negate my point that time and frequency domain are not equivalent in the OP.

I'd be surprised if you could really tell.

One of the best things you can buy if you get started down this rabbit hole is a switcher. That way you switch sources or amps very quick.

I learned how little dacs and amps actually do (tube amps not withstanding)

I put a song or section of song I know very well on repeat and listen switching back and forth. And I really don't hear anything really different ... I guess I'm just not audiophile enough.

I don’t understand your comment that there is no need to get into the math. Do you realize the original comment was misunderstanding the exact math I was talking about?

To make sure you’ve read my post… I’m not saying the math tells us anything. I replied to a comment that claims that impulse response is exactly the same as frequency response, and therefore we could safely ignore impulse response graphs. The math says that isn’t true. Therefore I claim we need controlled studies to understand what an impulse response can or cannot tell us before anyone knows what to interpret from them.

Do you wanna take the Grados outside? You know that they are open? I do take my SR60s outside from time to time but everybody passing me, can hear what I listen to.

From a power standpoint, every Bluetooth AMP should be sufficient. As Grado can't change cable without modding, no need to look for a balanced AMP either.

Fiio has a great reputation for products over the last 10 years. So you should be doing fine getting a BTR5. I would choose the BTR7 solely for its 4.4mm output but that is not a think with the Grados as mentioned.
