The LCD4 is the only headphone that actually makes me constantly forget I have a headphone on. That is the immersion I’m looking for. That bass and sub bass is just mesmerizing. They are second to none on imaging and dynamics IMO. I’m not saying the Elites aren’t great, just not my flavor for TOTL.

I’ve tried 6XX, Sundara and settled on Anandas for endgame. I find that they are better in every way to the 6XX except for that magic midrange. If I could transplant the warm luscious mids into the Anandas I would never consider buying another pair of cans. I guess that’s the price you pay for better resolution and soundstage.

Not OP. I use the Burson soloist for a set of LCD-4’s, 200 Ohm

The only time I need to set the amp to high gain is if I’m using a ton of DSP/EQ settings. Most of the time I don’t need to move past the medium gain setting, and I listen LOUD. It’d be tough to find a headphone that this amp can’t drive, including the Susvara. It’s overkill for most headphones.

LCD-4

Preemptive; the weight does not bother my head/neck whatsoever, the weight distribution, clamping force, and massive earpads work on my head just perfectly.

So far I've tried EQ on all the headphones I've got that have a corresponding oratory EQ and whilst I agree it does take some of what you may call the character out of them it does also do what it says on the tin which is that it equalises the overall sound reproduction.

For example it balances out my meze 99 Classics but depending on how I feel I might not use EQ to enjoy their increased bass.

Granted not all the oratory EQ are going to be to your liking and it does state that on the sub. Using the 99 classic example above I actually have the oratory EQ and my preferred EQ as separate presets as I had to reduce one of the bands as I found it sharp to my hearing.

I already have a pair of galaxy buds pro's as a convenient but very nice sounding pair of earbuds, but it hits different than an open back. I would like to get more use out of the money I spent for my headphones instead of buying more stuff. Without these details this was definetly good advice tho, thanks for helping!

I watched that video last night 😂. I didn't personally understand why you would completely close off the inside though, his end result was lower highs if I remember correctly, which is fine, but it seemed a lot of work when the paper mod works pretty well.

I'm completely ignorant in this field though, so maybe I'm missing something.

Had SA-1 before the 3xp, and I much preferred the sound out of the 3xp. Amazing sound quality, but gotta deal with crappy controls and other quirks.

I haven't tested too many headphones with my Soloist 3xp in balanced, but I actually preferred the single ended output over the balanced one. I thought SE sounded a little more relaxed and natural. Plus, SE out was more usable with medium gain on certain sensitive headphones like LCD-X.

Love the Elites. Love the Soloist 3xp. Never heard the Composer but Conductor was pretty nice.

But let that Soloist breathe! It must be getting quite hot.
