Reply to Used Sony WF-1000XM3 for $45. Good or not? by Gobutobu
That's a good deal. It's a pretty old product but a lot of people prefer the tuning of this generation to the last two and if memory serves it actually also apt-x.
If anything, it might sound too good to be true. At least based on a cursory research of eBay for used models which are flirting with 100 bucks. Sometimes more.
I can't speak to the battery replacement situation but just generally speaking, $45 for a refurb XM3 would be good value.
$45.. . My fear is it might be in worse condition because the price is so low. Seems like a reasonable bargain if there's a legitimate return and it's not "as is."
If it is as is, be aware you're taking a risk of some sorts. But the benefit would be great if it paid off.

Thats fine, I'm the same I dont EQ my headphones even when they do sound better. I dont feel the need to put in the extra work, my ears can adjust to the way they sound. A lot of EQ profiles to me dont always sound better either way, I like the way a lot of headphones sound stock usually.

Same...and even then just my LCD-X. The LCD-2 are just great as is. The X is horrible without it and great with it.

Truthear hola finally arrived. The box was crushed. Taking it out, the pouch containing the iems was pressed so hard into the tips that it left indents on the pouch. Luckily the IEMs themselves seem fine, but it's annoying. Oh well, now just to listen to them. Hoping for good things.

Return and get something really good and last a long time. U will eventually get your return in investment. I got the DT1990 because of this, and I'm sure it will last me a decade.

Wtf is auto eq. We’re talking about incredibly specific tuning backed up by measurements.
slavicslothe t1_j62jn54 wrote
You didn’t list any headphones so it’s hard to comment. You may just be one of the rare people who doesn’t prefer harmon tuning. You may also be using eq incorrectly and not applying the correct values and settings. No way to know since you left no information.

They held up to a 10db bass shelf without distortion and the rest was a matter of defucking the hollow mids and nuking the mt everest peak around 10k.
They were then quite pleasing and balanced while keeping the planar traits like speed and detail. Still a smaller head stage by being IEMs, but very impressive for their size. I only use foam tips with them. They aren't quite as natural sounding as some dynamics, but it didn't bother me considering their other traits. And I genuinely couldn't go back to non EQ. Even my wife was surprised by them and she hates treble.
I do wanna try the Max, but just looking at it I know it won't be comfortable. I couldn't wear the FH3 or the Zu tan wu, I get ear pain/sore spots a after 15 minutes.

I used it as a starting point but I made a couple of changes. I kinda mixed 3 separate EQs I had used on them.

It's kinda wild though, they're genuinely good after EQing. I liked it more than the 6XX, ZMF Classic and HE500 I had at the time

What do you mean by 45 minutes of backup?
Give me an extra battery life or something?
This seems to be way below market value so it's either a great deal or it's too good to be true or it's defective or something.
If it is a legitimately functional pair, $45 is a extremely competitive price
