Clears are definitely flatter with less quantity of bass. Soundstage is bigger and imaging more precise on the Elite. Gifted them to my dad with the CMA400i, he loves them because he's more into a bass-light presentation, so it's a match for him.

Brilliant thanks. I've had a look at them on amazon and apparently the clear colour versions sound different to the rest. And yes they look very flimsy lol do they sound better than porta pros?

Thanks :) I did check out the portal pro's but read that they sound slightly different. I have to have the Bass knob set to halfway and the Treble knob to halfway also as they sound abit empty and tinny otherwise and very harsh with treble set any higher than halfway so perhaps the porta pros are the way forward. They look even stranger too haha but who cares if they sound so beautiful haha

It is not refurbished. I am buying directly from a person. I can return it and get refund if not satisfied. I am in India and it's price touched $86 during an amazon sale recently. I was stupid enough to miss it. But this person purchased it in December 2020. Also maybe he is the 2nd buyer as he has blurred out shipping address on Amazon invoice.

Just return it and try again. If it doesn't work out after that then you need to decide for yourself if you continue, try again or go for something else.

While it sucks to get a DOA or defective product as a new purchase, shit happens with mass produced goods. I've had incidents like this happen with Beyer, Sennheiser, LetShour and Razer. The only time I've had an issue with a Hifiman product was when I purchased a used Sundara off somebody from Ebay. Pretty sure he got rid of it because the left driver was shitting the bed intermittently but luckily he had a receipt for the headphone and it was still under warranty. Hifiman had awesome support, I got a replacement in no time and it's been good for 2 years now.

Sundara is an awesome headphone, definitely worth a second shot. I would make sure to stick with a retailer like Amazon who makes returns/exchanges easy as sometimes you can have shit for luck and get a bad streak.

I did the unimaginable.

I tried the HD 600 before I did the HD 560S. I was disappointed in the former (but eventually bought a pair anyway, because reasons), and loved the latter. A few months of owning both and I haven't changed my mind.

It is functional but batteries have been replaced. That's why I think backup is low. It's more than 2 years old that's why maybe cheap. Was it the local postal service or FedEx or something?

I find usually products like this go through a private mailer. I actually find the post office to be reasonably efficient. At least with domestic mail something like 93% of letters arrived within four business days.

Not bad for a stamp that cost like 70 cents or something.

Yeah it just goes over the driver itself, I couldn't tell a difference back then, DIY audio heaven shows graphs before and after, lows and mids remain the same from what I remember, treble peak was reduced. I'm guessing like you say, detail was reduced, so I might test it without the paper again.

I have measured 100mV on the output when playing 500hz sine wave on my HD600 at my normal listening volume. That's should be around 85dB as the sensitivity is 104 dB @ 1V.

The peaks can't be higher than 85db as my volume knobs limits the output to 100mV.

Maybe I'm just listening to very low volumes.
