I'm not as confident with EQ-ing to my own taste just yet, but I've been fiddling around with EqualizerAPO on Windows to play around at home.

I use Spotify primarily just because the family plan made it cheap and easy across the board. But I'm potentially looking into Tidal since it's the same for the base family plan. Other than that, my media are usually ripped from CDs, or purchased through mediums like Qobuz and ProStudioMasters

Honestly the blessing 2 is so good I don’t even miss my two kilobuck headphones while I’m wearing them.

Just insane performance for the price. Truly think I could sell my headphones and be good with the Blessing 2 forever

I have two K701s and two K702s. One of each is made in Austria and one in China. They’re all indistinguishable in build and sound quality. Only issue I had was the Q701 from Austria developed a short in the left channel which was easily remedied with a small Philips screwdriver & soldering pencil. Do I love the K70x sound signature or what? Lol!

Thank you for the clarification! The terminology gets thrown around a lot so I'm still trying to figure out what they're actually referring to, especially in my own experience and words, so definitely duly noted my friend!

The AutoEQ is pre-defined in the Wavelet app, but it's either the Crinacle target or the Oratory1990 target that's being used. I'll link both of them respectively as well for your reference.

Gear pictured: ADI-2 DAC > holographic audio ear one headphone amp > LCD-X (& Genelec 8330A)

Not much to say here, Just thought I’d share the gear I’ve been using for the past couple of years.

I’ve tried a lot of different equipment and headphones but this gear has been very enjoyable and way more than enough for me to not want to upgrade (jk who the hell am I kidding lol); The only exception being a purchase I made recently which was a pair of new ear pads for the LCD-X, since from what I’ve read, the new ones change the sound for the better.

If you guys have any questions on my main setup, or any gear I’ve compared it to feel free to comment :)

I might try and write up a comparison as soon as my moonriver 2 gets in. I got one used for $130 and I think that was a pretty good deal. Wanted something slim and without an internal battery (less to worry about recharging)

Been using the apple dongle with the b2 dusk

Maybe it's something to do with loudness ? Did you volume match ? Also some bright headphones (shouty if you may) are quite good with details, so when you apply the oratory EQ, the highs are brought down a notch so it does give the impression that there are less details in the music.

Also Note that the Oratory EQ doesn't always bring you to the harman curve as many variables are at sake here like the shape of your head, variations during manufacturing process...

Now that we know how your devices are connected to your pc, you don't need a switch box. Soundswitch will cover your audio output change. HDMI switch is also available for purchase, but I am guessing your pc has multiple video outputs.

If you know a bit of scripting, you might want to look into AutoHotkey which allows you to execute tasks via script by binding them to hotkeys. An example of what you were looking for is found here. Good luck!

It's a Google Pixel 2 XL from back in 2017 that I had laying around as a backup phone. The app is Poweramp that I purchased at a steal for $0.99 way back when it was only $3.99 for the full version. Currently it's priced at $6.99, but I feel that it's worth it. You can also wait for it to go on its periodic sale, last time it went on sale during Thanksgiving I believe for $2.49 if you want to save a quick buck.

There's also a skin applied that I got for free years ago called Aurora now priced at $1.49. It gives Poweramp a cleaner look compared to default.

Additionally I use the Wavelet app for it's AutoEQ feature.

As a single dude running a database of hundreds/thousands of audio products, QC, build and comfort is not something that makes sense to keep up with when you have reviewers out there that can get into that stuff individually. His work is impressive for what it is. Honestly everyone is different and Crins manly sized head isn't the gold standard to judge comfort of a headphone on. I don't see anything wrong with Crins site knowing that he's just there to judge sound above all else which to some helps weed out a lot of options assuming you share similar listening preferences.

That's interesting, maybe I have a bad Apple dongle? I didn't think it sounded particularly bad on its own but when switching around the difference is pretty clear. It's like the high end is relatively slushy and undefined. I'll have to pick up another one of these days.
