realistically, a modern solid state amplifier will always reproduce sound more faithfully to the original file than a tube amp. people use tube amps because tubes naturally color the sound giving it a more "warm" tone. or that's what audio enjoyers say at least, i've never had the chance to do a blind test in person

But HRTF doesn't know it's needs to add delay (since it doesn't have position info). It just just knows that this sound source has a 50% level on the RT and 10% on the LT. I suppose may be it always assumes to add a delay when this happens?

Might try to listen to it little longer, however, when i first have my XM4 i was blown away. With Aria, its sounds just like the same IEMs i had before, yes some details there but when all instruments are on, some details cant be heard, and that's not the case with XM4, probably its just a preference however i am actually looking for recommendations of IEMs like XM4 sound characteristics.

As others have said, listen to what you like and what you know.

For example, I personally fall back on a lot of classic rock: Jethro Tull's Aqualung album (particularly the song Locomotive Breath), Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Eric Clapton's Slowhand and Fleetwood Mac's Rumours simply because they are generally mastered pretty well, and more importantly I grew up listening to those albums with my Dad. All of those Albums I've listened to probably hundreds of times, and I know each song back and front. So when testing headphones I use those albums because I will pick up on any intricacies that the set up might reveal.

Most tube amps have cages around it.
But it is not possible to put it inside anything other than metal or maybe some ceramics, because it gets considerably hot !

But now you have HRTF delay that makes the sounds appear more accurate.
Without HRTF the sound would hit only the left ear but with HRTF the sound hits the right ear with a slight delay and it makes the "range and location finding" faster and more accurate.

i've recently bought this headphone (superlux hd 681) to try out what open back headphones sound like and read a lot of comments about this model having very high trebles. i've been trying out autoeq's in the peace UI to fix that but can't really decide on which one to use. they all sound different but i can't say one sounds better than the other while listening to music
