That may well be on brand for the egg-shaped stealths, then. I've only tried the non-stealth Arya and HE1000 V2 myself, which I don't find grating in the slightest. (Although I'm sure some people do.) But the HE1000SE is reportedly a fair amount spicier.

They used to be, and they’re still comfortable and it’s cool if you like how they look, but they’re now outclassed in terms of sound in the same price bracket to the point they aren’t really worth it. I believe most iems use a .78mm 2pin connector, so they would be interchangeable.

I’m really liking the look of the Shure SE215s actually. Are these popular at all in the community? Also, how do I know if cables will work with other IEMs? I don’t like the cable I’m seeing online but if I’m correct I can just buy a replacement?

Oh yeah the "charts" awesome. I love it. This just gets better.
Gosh, that mid range bump.. yeah that FUCKER right there. If that was not so fucking pronounced I might ENJOY what bass there is... and yeah go figure.
ok so I will do a test tone test and A/B both sets of fones. See how both sets compare. Best I can do.
and I may be barking up the wrong tree but those are HD-25 PLUS ( new ones ), I have HD-25-1 ( made in Ireland ) which are, heck, maybe 15 - 20 years old. I bet you $100 they do not have the same response as the HD 25 Plus.

Arias are 80% of the b2s and they’re only like $80 on Amazon. I would learn a little bit about frequency response and read about the Arias vs the Aria snow edition, both are great picks. I hear some people talk about the dunu titan s, idk much about it, but it’s in the same price range and I’ve heard it’s comparable. If that is also too steep or you just wanna test the waters first and see if it’s for you, you have a ton of $20 iems to pick from. The three that come to mind are: truthear holas - warm, the salnotes zeros - neutral, and the Moondrop chus - bright (roughly)

I blast the Frozen soundtracks, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, and Whitney Houston in my car through a Fiio BTR5 2021 and I like my music loud. I don't care who can hear it. I've learned to try and embrace what I like. If someone has a problem with my musical taste, that is on them, not me. Show Yourself, Into the Unknown, and Let it Go from Frozen I and II are some of my favorite songs ever. Embrace the type of music you like, it is a part of you that makes you, you.

The 10k at highj volume really is too much for me, actually now i understood why they like this because for the price it is really good, i thought it was just a trying to mask the high pitch but yes i can now hear some separation and details, i think its just the sound profile that i require.

Good recs thank you. Are all IEM devices around that price? ($300) They’re gorgeous earbuds but the price seems a little steep. Looking for a more affordable intro IEM.

I have the Clear OG, HD800S and Arya Stealth (and for that matter the 6XX) as well, the LCD-X is a good complement IMO and has better bass than any of them, that's what I bought it for and it delivers on that. It's actually different.
For me, it's unlistenable without EQ, incredibly muffled, but EQ fixes it. It took a bit of tweaking, there may also be unit variance but Oratory1990's EQ pushes the upper mids too high for me, it's becomes a bit harsh.
I use a modified Oratory Harman EQ, just a bit less in the upper mids/lower treble. The overall shape of Oratory's EQ is similar to Resolve's EQ, it's fixing the same issues, just the shape and exact heights of some of the peaks are different, Resolve's EQ is a little less but also spikier. Mine is less again, Oratory1990's straight Harman EQ makes it too intense in the upper mids for me so I pull that back. With this it is distinctly darker than something like the HD800S or Arya but it's not totally muffled and veiled either.
I definitely would not buy this if you are not willing to EQ. Without EQ for me, it's flat out bad. If you are willing to EQ though, it's a great headphone.

Cannot agree with you more about the Clears. Amazing for most of the music I listen to, but way too intimate of a soundstage for gaming/movies (where voices sound a little unnatural). It's a screaming good value though, and I actually prefer it without any EQ (except some moderate bass boost). I use mine to focus/study as their metallic timbre is perfect for more melodic/instrumental music.
I was iffy about sticker modding an HD8XX so I got the HD800S instead, but its awesome that you've had success with it. I also agree with your analysis of HD8xx/Arya except I have the Stealth which is supposedly less bright than the V2 (but V2's have more soundstage). My Arya's are my go-to pair for enjoying music, everything sounds amazing on them (but I do miss the dynamic-ness of the Clears here sometimes). I haven't really figured out how to get the most of my HD800S for music yet, but it gets probably the most usage out of all my headphones as I use it for gaming/movies. The soundstage is just wayyy too good. If I had to pick one though, I'd probably pick the Arya's since they're an exceptional all-arounder.

For me I was already in the hobby, but when I pulled the trigger on the Hifiman He400i it was my first "Audiophile " cans. It was like hearing music for the first time, the song was Tomorrow by Brothers Johnson. The level of detail hearing parts I never heard before, the expansive Soundstage, the crystal highs and accurate bass. IT WAS A WRAP. I love my bassss but hearing the difference of quality vs deep and loud made me understand what hifi truly was.

> The HD 25's have fuck all bass
That's objectively not true - they do, but it's not over-emphasized. Here's the HD25 versus an actual bass-light headphone:

What you mean to say is that there isn't enough bass for your liking.
Seeing as you like the B&W, you must like more of a v-shape/bassy sound signature.

Oh yeah you are right about the upper midrange, the HE1000 doesn't have that issue at all, it is a smoother sounding headphone. Like you said, now that the difference is $700 I would say the HE1000 is the better buy and even better value than the Arya.

Lol I wouldn't go that far myself, but I agree that they're very content-dependent.
They're great as a pair of lightweight monitors and for listening to certain genres of music. I can happily listen to electronic music and metal all day on these things, but they are my last pick for classical/jazz due to the complete lack of soundstage.
