Reply to I’m thinking of buying Skull Candy Hesh? by [deleted]
I found 4 different Hesh models, but all of them look equally awfull, whatever they cost, there are far better headphone models out there, the Skullcandys are only gonna play bass, and nothing else, that's NOT something you want from a pair of quality headphones

Tripowin and some other cables from Linsoul or AE that have red and clear plastic indicators at the ends can be cut off. That way you not cutting your IEMs.
In the future think twice about supporting Sennheiser. They know that we consumers want to swap cables but they don't seem to care. Lots of other choices.

Did you download a FLAC or MP3 to archive?

I'd honestly just use the convenience of youtube music vanced instead of dealing with that, but it's nice to hear there are options

Big fan of diy cables, use them on everything except my Sennheiser because of the stupid connector they use.

Qobuz is better than both, although its playlist algorithm isn't as good and its userbase-generated playlists are far more sparse.
So, if you want the best sound quality and don't listen to a lot of obscure bands or genre, Qobuz is the pick. If music discovery and social sharing are most important to you, Spotify still is the king. Otherwise, Apple Music is pretty damn good.
I don't like Tidal because it shoves MQA in our face, which isn't true lossless and is largely marketing snake oil. Qobuz only uses MQA when no other source file is available from the record company.

What do you think that post effects are manipulating besides timing based ones like reverb/delay?
I see what you are getting at but there is no true equivalent to reverb/delay in the physical behavior of resonances in headphones. Resonances affect the FR in an exact 1:1 fashion to the point that one can be calculated from the other.
A resonance at a certain frequency causes a peak at that same frequency. Or does the peak cause the resonance? I dunno, they are inseparable.

I have been using Amazon HD for a year, but recently signed up for Apple music because I have a free 6-month trial period when I bought my AirPod Pro 2. I quite like the Apple UI, but I will note that if you use WiiM Mini (which I do), you will need to stream over Airplay, which is not lossless. Moreover, I've noticed that streaming Airplay to WiiM will cause some tracks to stutter, which is very annoying. I also don't like that Apple music doesn't incorporate podcasts.

I will admit it's my own project. It's a mix of harsh noise and DSBM. I put in a lot of effort to make as miserable and bitter of a soundscape as possible.

I believe the website also has a little tab in it where you can stream in the Apple preview’s quality; it’s on the website, not the iTunes app for windows.

well nobody is seriously going to be using them so all the cost in making an indestructible headphone was wasted

If you already own some of the niche songs or are willing to buy them separately Apple Music allows you to upload your own songs. It’s one of the reasons I chose it over Spotify and other platforms.

How did you transfer your playlists over to Apple music?
AtLastLight t1_ja8dbh6 wrote
Anything by Macroblank/Haircuts for Men. Very chill vaporwave and all of their albums are NYP as well.
Alfa Mist - amazing contemporary jazz, Structuralism is his best album imo.
DIM - Neo-classical/dungeon synth. Very beautiful and atmospheric music, check out Compendium II.
Hello Meteor - my personal favorite artist and criminally unknown. Coastal Obscure is a good starting point.
Brothertiger - upbeat and lush synth-pop. Self-titled or Out of Touch are phenomenal.
Vanilla - one of the best lofi hip hop producers, definitely check him out if you like Dilla or Nujabes. His trilogy (Origin, Moonlight, Into the Dream) is incredible.
Machine Girl - crazy internet brainmelt music. Definitely an acquired taste but I love them. WLFGRL is their most well known album.

They are pushing the mastered quality aspect with artists, they have a whole toolkit for that

I'm occasionally going to layer an audio processor on top (jamesdsp) do I assume it benefits from a higher bitrate
https://github.com/ThePBone/RootlessJamesDSP
Also it's cheaper than spotify and pays artists three times as much so there wasn't really a reason against it quality aside

Best over ear noise cancelling headphone for large head?
Hello,
I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for over ear noise-cancelling headphones for someone with a large head/glasses wearer.
I just got back from a long (9+ hour) flight and I was borrowing a set of Beats over ear headphones and within an hour I could hardly put them on my head, the ear/head pain was unbearable. I had the same issue with PlayStation over ear headphones, after an hour or so they are so painful I need to wait a day to use them again.
Anyone else have these issues? I’m trying to find a good set of noise canceling headphones for flights that are comfortable enough to wear for several hours or more. Does my large head cost me use of headphones like this? Do I need to use in-ear only? I’ve never found in-ear noise cancellation to be great, but after sitting on that flight yesterday in silence because I couldn’t watch a movie it was terrible.
Thank you kindly!

Yeah, honestly it was hard just picking one album- his entire back catalogue is pretty epic.
The Glowing: Final Cut, Conditioned Air, and Causality Violations are all also on my regular rotation.

How? He understands this concept and he repeatedly states that he hates equalizing headphones/IEMs in his videos.
