mmcx has 2 semi-circle looking metal pieces that are (arguably) more fragile than 2pin pic for reference:

i haven't heard anything about 64A stuff breaking (coz I don't keep up with those) but I have tried both, and I'd recommend swapping a cable to something more ergonomic for both regardless.

You may simply be used to a brighter sound sig, use it for a while and go back. You might realise your previous headphones had simply been too bright.

Have you tried different tips if you don’t like your Dusk? I found mine very underwhelming when I first got them but some well fitting tips transformed them. I’m sure you probably have, but just in case :)

I got an entire cable for $7 here in Asia. Same cable is $15 on Amazon, and is a decent cable with 2 connectors already attached.

The HD6X0 connector is technically proprietary but it's very easy to get and it's cheaper even than supposedly non-proprietary connectors like Audeze's mini-XLR, or Audio-Technica's recessed 2.5mm. It's only marginally more difficult to get than dual 3.5mm.

I don’t regret anything, because if I buy a headphone I’m not sure about because I couldn’t test it, I always buy it used at a maximum of 50% MSRP. I can easily sell it again and get all my money back.

Also, about non-audiophiles: If you think in terms of price/performance ratio, if you happen to like a headphone that costs 2000$/€, and the tuning is different from Harman in a way that you like, the AKG K371 might have a terrible price/performance ratio for you specifically, because you’re after a better build quality and a different kind of sound.

The Hexa has the stock foam tips that come in the box on it at the moment. The Zero and the B2 Dusk have comply foam tips on them. I have some moondrop spring tips on the way to try out, but most of the time my ears prefer foam tips.

If you have the HD600, you would use the HD600 preset. You always EQ using the presets for the model you have. The way it works, it's FROM the model to a specific target curve. So you need to start with the exact model you have.

Then there are three different options, Harman, Diffuse Field, or Oratory1990/Usound.

Basically USound is Harman without the bass shelf, so if you find Harman bass too much and just want flat bass, that's a good pick. It will still bring up the HD600 bass roll-off. I'm not a fan of diffuse field.

There are actually some headphones and earbuds that are attached to the end of a pair of cables, and they receive power directly from the device you’re playing them from.

You don’t even have to charge them, and they work with both mobile phones and most computers easily.
