Try lowering between 4khz and 7khz. That range in Harman seems to have the most problems for people

Emerald Sea is an affront to anyone who likes good sounding IEMs... They're very meh... Get the U12t ilor something like the Kumitate KL-Focus (Max Bass Setting Selected), qdc 8SL, Softears Turii and Symphonium Helios

My solution is to use the Ifi Go Blu (more power on balanced out, good battery life) and use the PEQ from Poweramp Equaliser (which is system wide for Android and should therefore work with Tidal).

Not sure I follow what you're saying about Tidal. On my phone it seems to work just fine with Wavelet (cumbersome but free) and Poweramp EQ (fully parametric, not free but cheap). There's also UAPP with the optional PEQ (more expensive though, and a different UI than the Tidal app). It won't give you any volume headroom, but offloading the EQ processing to your phone might help a little with the 5k's battery life, or allow you to use a Bluetooth receiver without EQ but with a bigger battery.
Edit: on second thought, I have enabled the enhanced session detection feature for both Wavelet and Poweramp EQ (Poweramp calls it "Advanced player tracking"). That's why I can EQ Tidal. It's a bit of an involved process, but well worth it to be able to EQ pretty much any application (even Reddit!)

I'm only looking for EQ presets since certain sounds (like snapping drumsticks together, clapping, snapping fingers) hurt my ears.
Everywhere I look, I read that it's very close to Harman, but certain sounds make it painful to the ears. Can you tell me what frequency I should cut? I'm using Poweramp EQ (parametric type).

Lol the Quark DSP is a literal Harman Target hugging IEM.... Don't know where you heard it is similar to the the OG Quarks which have that hard to miss peak in the upper midrange making things sound shouty

I find myself getting into the expensive hobbies, film cameras, keyboards and now headphones/iems. Not good for the funds

The hexa has been talked about by everyone but I’ve personally enjoyed it, it’s warm and neutral, and can pretty much pull off most genres, I just find the shape and size of nozzle a downside for my ears as I usually have to adjust them or they’ll start becoming irritating

i wouldn't say that's a beginner setup! The Ibasso players are fantastic. If your looking to expand on your Ibasso, i would highly recommend the Amp13 card. I just listened to my buddy's this past weekend. Seriously is making me consider selling my Dx240 so i can get a 320 with the warm little Nu-tube card.

UAPP has a decent built-in PEQ and you can listen to Tidal through it, though it won't be through the actual Tidal app. But as far as I know the q5k is really the only dongle with features like that unfortunately.

It probably has a high impedance output. All my headphones sound very flat on my Marantz amp. In my case literally anything actually designed for headphones (even motherboard) that can achieve enough volume will sound better.
