Yeah KZ hit it out the park with the Pro revision of the PR1... The OG was a mess so was joyed when the FR of the Pro looked miles better... Also great use of Qudelix. The 5K gang is large and strong🗿

I absolutely love mine. I bought mine as my first really big headphone purchase and have been underwhelmed by nearly everything else I've tried since. The sound sig is just perfect for my tastes, and the isolation is top notch. I traveled with them for business for 10 years before my first pair broke, probably 20 hours of use a week average. I immediately bought a second pair. The only thing that's trumped them for me has been the Shure KSE1500 setup. I picked it up when it went on sale a couple years ago and haven't looked back.

So I’ve had these for a couple weeks now, and in short I have to say they’re incredible. My path is tidal/spotify/local FLAC files into Qudelix 5k, both Bluetooth and usb depending on where I am.

I don’t have a ton of experience with IEMs, I started with KZ ZSN Pros, which I loved but found a little fatiguing. These opened my eyes to how good IEMs were, and I was hooked. I grabbed and returned some T2s, just didn’t think they were worth the money, then got the CCA CRAs which are fantastic for the price.

From there I was looking for a ZSN pro upgrade and landed on the PR1s. Bought these straight from KZ for full retail and couldn’t be happier. These headphones are so clear, crisp, accurate, detailed, I could go on and on. Every other headphone feels like I’m listening with cotton stuffed in my ears now. The soundstage isn’t super wide but instrument separation is fantastic, and i find myself constantly finding new elements in songs I’ve heard many times.

I don’t usually listen to music for more than three hours at a time and I don’t find these to be fatiguing in that time period. Bass is tight, not overpowering but more than good enough. Much better than HD660s or DT 990 pros. Something like a Chris Thile mandolin solo sounds more amazing than I can even describe - I find these excel on vocals and string instruments, but do very well with something like the percussion in a Tool song too. There’s really no sonic element I’m disappointed with.

Overall, extremely pleased, and compared to the amount of money I’ve spent on audio equipment in my life I consider these an absolute steal even at full retail. My only dig is I don’t find them to be super comfortable, but none of the IEMs I’ve tried yet have been very comfortable to me so it might just be the form factor.

I’m curious about your opinion on the buds , what quality of sound would you compare them to if any ? I use to use the XR20I buds from Klipsch but they need repairing so I’m using the 1more buds and not that they don’t sound good but they are not the same and shure is one of the brands I was researching when I got the 1more buds so I’m curious if I should save to upgrade. An could use some opinions on other brands sound quality, comfort stuff like that if you don’t mind sharing. Thanks

clown core is great! No need to be embarrassed. You're welcome to follow me, here's my profile. Lots of other good/weird stuff in there.

I don't know how much noise music you've heard, but this live piece from Otomo Yoshihide is fantastic. I love seeing how the sounds get made, something you really miss when listening to a recording instead of seeing it live.

Ah so you're using the headphone jack on a speaker amp right? The power output is very low compared to low end headphone amps or even a mobo/apple dongle. Given that the power output increases with impedance, I'm suspicious that the headphone output is coming straight from the tube preamp. This would explain why you're getting better performance on your dynamic driver cans than planars, which are low impedance, low sensitivity (generally don't do well with tubes). It's a bit of a shame because that amp looks pretty sweet otherwise. What I would do if I were you is hook up a dedicated headphone amp to the dac/preamp of the SV-500. You'll still get the tubiness of the preamp and good dac, but yeah you need more juice into Edition XS. They're 18ohm impedance so you're probably getting even less than the 24mW. You don't need anything fancy. Schiit Magni or Atom amp would do the trick. You'll probably notice a performance improvement with your 6xx and Clears as well.

Looks like a fun collection! How are you liking the M3X? What app do you use to play music?

I’ve been using it pretty much since it released and love it except for a few small issues (screen isn’t super responsive, no gapless playback in the Shanling app). I use Foobar2000 fpr my library.

sorry to hear that, my pair has been flawless since day 1, it is a b-stock pair, however I heard that b-stock can be even better than new pairs because they have to do additional QC on those pairs to make sure they're actually working before reselling them :P

you may want to try that

Thanks for the recommendations.

Recently, I've been digging (to name a few):

I like this kind of thread. Let's do one every time?

So, is I am seeing a lot if they are efficient and easy to drive. Should I stick with the Meridian or give some other amps a chance? I have tubes in one of my home setups and love their sound.

So, the credit was from when I was looking at headphones back in 2013. I did a lot of lending library rentals of cans, amps, dacs etc. I ended up getting a pair of Audeze LCD-3's and pairing it with a McIntosh MHA100.

My wife swears she got them from Cable Co, but who knows. I got out of Headphones when we built our house with a custom theater/2 channel room (I was much more into jamming out to my B&W 802 D3's). 2 kids now and another on the way, so I figured why not go back to headphones for a few years!
