its not "non audiophiles" its just low iq people in general. smart people value quality over everything. I was taught well by my parents when very young to value quality over quantity, my mom would say 1 pair of high quality shoes is better than having to buy 3-4 shoes that fall apart in less time.

when i hear these type of stories you guys are sharing about your friends going crazy about the price or whatever you enjoy spending your own money on makes me wonder why you keep such idiotic type of people around you lol.

I would suggest bending the metal arms inwards. Don't bend the top of the headband, extend them out and bend in the arms only. This increases clamp force.

I also have a headband cover similar to the Geekria, this helps a bit too by increasing the contact area but the bending was the larger effect.

Before they were ridiculously loose, now they are secure and very comfortable.

I have nothing to add regarding your experiment that hasn’t been commented on by other posters except there’s a total absence of classical music on your list. I assume it’s not your cuppa tea, but my most critical evaluations of headphones & streaming services are based on my personal taste for classical. Having tried all 4 lossless streamers, Qobuz is the gold standard in sheer sound quality. Interface and other considerations are another matter for other discussions

You just made me realize the specs of this alleged Ananda V3 are very close to the specs of the XS. Impedance is 16 Ohm vs 18 Ohm for the XS and sensitivity is the same (92dB).

So maybe Ananda V3 is a tweaked XS with the strap style headband?

I guess we shall see soon enough.

I own that same exact caliper ($9.99 from Bezos)!

I bought it solely to be able to measure IEMs so that I could have reference numbers to what dimensions do/don't work for me and to (more) accurately compare the fit and sizes of IEMs.

I do really appreciate the heads-up about them showing images with nozzle diameters! That's going to be very helpful!

I know these aren't anything crazy, but they're my first pair of "real" headphones. I love them to death, the sound is very neutral and lends itself well to any genre. I also swapped the old deteriorated earcups for velour ones and they're now the most comfortable headphones I've tried.

I've never owned a headphone amp so if anyone has a recommendation for a good entry level amp, let me know!
