I never cared enough to test it but apparently some sources are designed with the balanced output in mind, which means their circuit has more or better components and therefore should sound better; the single-ended is an afterthought and is there for convenience. Your DAP could be one of these sources.

Fuk ye cunt, a fellow Aussie.

I got the Clears last year on sale and similarly to you I went from a HD6XX, been loving them except for maybe the cables that are included.

Happy listening 👂

There’s a few that I listen to that I think accentuate different strengths and aspects of a headphone, but most importantly, you need to like the songs! Listen to your favorite songs.

The Chain - Fleetwood Mac (2004 remaster)

Do It Again - Steely Dan

Kiss - Prince

Sweet Dreams - Eurythmics

One Of These Nights - Eagles

With or Without You - U2

Over The Hills And Far Away - Led Zeppelin

Dark Fantasy - Kanye West

Mountains - Hans Zimmer

I would recommend listening to well mastered music that you already like and listening to the songs back to back on your 109s compared to a random source that isn’t nearly as good. You’ll hear things you didn’t know were even there.

These things are exxy af in straya, but managed to get them for sale at $999.

On first listen my reaction was 'omg finally, this is what I've been looking for'

Clearer, exciting and more confident sounding than my previous hd6xx, hd600, hd598 and m40x.

Definitely end game. Because there's no way I can afford to spend more on headphones 😂
