I don't own Synology NAS, but I have read some about it a while ago and understand what capabilities it has. IIRC you can install media server plugin to it and have it stream media files to upnp or dlna capable devices. I had a brief look at Synology's knowledge center on how to do that and I believe you need something in the middle if you need to connect to fiio k7 or k9. In simple term, you need a media renderer to output to your amp. A mobile phone would work or something like Raspberry Pi /SBC if you are a DIY type.

I use my own personally curated library of 10k tracks sync'ed to my phone or streamed via Plex. Grown by CD purchases, or FLAC purchases from Bandcamp or else the best quality I can get from other download sources like iTunes or Amazon.

Bluesound node has digital in via USB and optical, and I believe it can read a NAS or USB drive directly without a computer. You can use that as a streamer and go RCA out to a fancy HP amplifier or just use the built-in HP amplifier on the node. If you’re willing to invest more money, you can go with a computer with Roon on it which will let you manage your NAS files and streaming (from Qobuz or Tidal) in the same interface. This will let you also access all that music on the go as well. Maybe as a next step upgrade down the line… :)

Not trying to argue, but how is that the wrong answer? Wouldn't a bad room or ill-placement of the speakers completely ruin the frequency response?
I've got decent studio monitors, but they lack the detail of even a $100 IEM, and I also don't get to feel much bass because those frequencies are almost entirely cancelled out in my garage.

I jumped back into the hobby (again) and thought I would share this "budget" setup. I have had countless headphones over the years, all less than $2k. While I will not say this is the best combo I have ever owned, it is respectable in my eyes.

There are countless post describing the 660S, but I prefer it over the 6XX when EQ is applied. At their original price, it is not worth it to me. At $250, refurbished from Sennheiser's website, I think they are a good deal. They came in the box and look brand new with all the accessories. I have been using Oratory's EQ profile through SoundSource and it sounds great. Bass is not as powerful as some of my planars, but it is enough.

The star of the show is the little DX1. For $100, I am really impressed. In the past I have not been a fan of Topping after owning a few of their DAC/Amps over the years. This one is not the most powerful, but for the HD660S it is plenty even on low gain. It is really smooth and the build/form factor is perfect for me. It has been nice to be able to power off the computer and not having to worry about another power adapter. The volume pot seems to be good quality as well, which was a surprise.

Anyways, not the best combo of all time, but it's good bang for buck at the moment. Hopefully I can settle with it, only time will tell. Just thought I would share if someone was in the market for gear in this price range.

A $2,000 barely running junk car is still many times faster than any human can achieve on a bike.

You need space, room treatment, and a fixed listening area for high-level room audio solutions. I can bring a pair of cans to anywhere I visit. Even with my desktop setup, I can listen at my desk, sofa, or armchair with an extension cable.

FWIW, I think there's plenty of differentiation at the high end if you know what you are looking for, and willing to build an appropriate system around a pair of high end headphones. You can also make $500 speakers sound really good with treatment, so the cost point isn't clear either way.

I read that as "sneakers" and started writing a philosophical answer until I realized that I need to learn how to read good.

That aside, my reasons are that my children and husband don't always appreciate hearing my music, and when I'm working, it's helpful to listen to headphones to shut out the rest of the world around me so I can concentrate. I can't get either of those things from speakers.
