The most common mod for almost any headphone is pad swapping. Some headphones, like the Hifiman HE6se V2 have such awful stock earpads that almost any other pad makes them sound better and more comfortable. Others, like most Sennheiser headphones, will change the sound for the worse with aftermarket earpads.

EDIT: Also EQ. Some people prefer to EQ to find their preferred sound. I personally dislike heavy EQing. Always makes my headphones sound boring and similar. And I always have to change something when I change something else, similar to physical mods but not as permanent.

But I do like to apply a small +3db bass shelf whenever I’m yearning for that nasty bass. Not always though lol

The distortion is probably from overpowering the HD800 or the signal going to the ifI isn't strong enough. Check the input volume in Windows/Mac and set it to 100.

I have the Black Label, iCan Pro, Lyr 3, Beta22 and others and these all seem more than capable of powering the HD800 to a loud manner at low-mid volume.

Man this just sucks to see. I'm pretty damned new here still as I just got my first pair last Xmas of some Closed Back Sundaras. They SEEM to be quality made. I use mine maybe 4+ hrs most days and haven't had a single issue yet. Am I lucky or??

It's true. Burning fat is your bodies reaction to a caloric deficit in the absence of glycogen storages or carbs in general.

When you fast your glycogen gets depleted, 1g of glycogen binds 5g of water so you'll mostly lose water during the early stages of fasting and afterwards ketosis starts and breaks down your muscles and fat.

With a high caloric deficit the body will also start to break down muscles more than fat because it thinks you're running away from the British again and those pescy muscles will only use up more energy in the future so it is more efficient to get rid of them primarily instead of the fat too outlast the british.

If you want to lose fat long term it is not a great method, you should strive for a medium to low but constant caloric deficit.

Intermittent fasting can be an alternative for you if you like fasting. In general all that counts for diets is that you have a caloric deficit but not to much to slow down metabolism.

I know we are all unhappy with our bodies sometimes and always look for quick and easy ways to achieve our goals but for losing weight naturally we haven't found one.

Maybe give the intermittent fasting a shot, works great after getting used to it and helped me to lose 15kg in a year after the lockdowns, also helped my godmother to go from big chonker to chubby.

I spit on Hifiman's build quality, but to be honest, in this case it probably wasn't their fault.

Planar magnetic headphones are generally more prone to damage from drops and such, than dynamic drivers. This is because the drivers are much thinner than traditional headphones.

Unfortunate that your's broke nonetheless, maybe consider a dynamic driver if durability is a concern. Don't really have any suggestions off the top of my head, the Meze109s are somewhat close to the XS IMO, but I prefer the XS ultimately, and they also cost more.

Of course fasting is about minimizing calories intake. Do you think fasting is like some sort of magic? Or do you think I think it is some sort of magic? The entire point of fasting g is to be in a negative caloric balance compared to your daily maintenance.

Yeah, you can be in a minimal caloric deficit for a long time to induce weight loss over a long period of time, but if you want it to get it over and done and lose weight faster, you start fasting. That 6:18 thing is bullshit, it all boils down to induction of caloric deficit vis a vis your weight maintenance requirement, that's it.

God this comment of yours pisses me off so much. You think I am a fucking moron? And don't go around flinging "Snake oil" around when you don't even know what the fuck you are talking about, and who you are talking to it about. Go get a Chu and an Apple dongle.

These are my 5 or so year old Aeons. And yes, the earpads are as fragile as everyone says. Other than that, they’re fine. Just a few scratches and such.

I do basically beat the shit out of them by using them frequently. The stock earpads last me about a year or so before they’re too mushy. This time though, I got Dekoni Elite sheepskin V2 pads, so we’ll see how those hold up (so far, so good)

Not sure what happened to the pair that you were listening to but the AKG K371 is beautifully tuned with a good bass shelf to boot. I feel the pair you listened to was altered in some way as typically it's such a pleasant headphone for all genres and it makes no sense what happened to you. The only real complaint from most people is that the band is very fragile. I listen to mine often and I just can't believe how much I like them for what you pay especially because I do have a more expensive critical listening headphone. I keep coming back to my K371.

Well someone just posted news of an Audeze MM-100 coming out soon for $399. If it's anything like the MM-500 it's bound to be great, and Audezes are built like tanks.

I thought all he did was agree to a branding deal if they made them conform to the Harman curve? Did I misunderstand what he said in that video?

I'm not a fanboy so if he claimed to do more than that then he's got to substantiate that.

Doesn't invalidate any of his data for headphones or IEMs and that's all I use him for. Just another source to collate.

Better to just get another pair of Edition XS. You can't beat them. It's not worth buying anything else. Otherwise contact Hifiman and see if you can send them there for repair.
