Well, as i say, the important part is that you're happy.

Despite all i've written, having a good room to listen your stuff does make quite the difference. It's a little sad that you only have your garage to listen on speakers. I bet there's a lot you can do to improve your experience but if there is too many logistical constraints, you might still end up with a somewhat poor setup.

Personnally, i do have some dips in the lower bass, not horrible ones tho, and it still beat any of my headphones including the 650 and other ones with close to perfect frequency response measures on the low end of the spectrum.

It's really something else to listen to cello or double bass in good conditions. the absolute best of course is to listen to it live in a good venue. Listening to orchestral stuff in a church is pretty damn wild. I usually hate stadiums or big industrial type of venues.

Like all these receivers/boomboxes, the headphone jack is a bit of afterthought and does not have a dedicated amplifier, but uses the speaker amp going through a resistor. The resistor causes the amp's output level to be very sensitive to variations in the headphone's impedance at different frequencies, which for most dynamic driver headphones gives you a midbass "boost" (though what's really happening is that it's struggling to drive the other frequencies at the same level). It also reduces the control the amp has over the movement of the driver, but I'm not sure to what extent this has an audible effect. You can get the same effect with an impedance adapter dongle.

Oh I see that's the cable of kph40. I need to stop postponing and do the mod for my ksc75xs as well. Because the cable broke off and it's been more than a year. I missed listening to them.

Some customization for touch controls is present in some ~$50 TWS earbuds with those apps. It's not that common either though.

I get that fit/comfort/etc. issue a lot with TWS earbuds and IEMs, you just have to find smaller sizes for the outer shell design.

Try not to believe in burn-in (brain burn-in or your mind adjusting to the new sounds is real though) and random snake oil/fake marketing/etc. These days there's AutoEQ with squig.link, easy change of sounds there.

Bullet style IEMs and small flush, mini, etc. IEMs and so on: https://www.reddit.com/r/HeadphoneAdvice/comments/11lpe04/best_budget_iems_for_a_beginner/jdnr9yb/ and https://www.reddit.com/r/HeadphoneAdvice/comments/1214d1f/hi_guys_i_need_advice_on_iem_that_is_bullet_atyle/jdlb7rx/

For small, flush TWS earbuds, there's FIIL T1/T2 Pro (these are available as Earfun Free Pro 1/2 on Amazon, but they are different, check comparison reviews for more info), 1More ComfoBuds Mini, Soundpeats Mini Pro, etc. There's also more expensive ones like Soundcore Sleep A10.

Check the "Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?" thread on Head-Fi for more info on $100/200+ TWS earbuds (they still discuss cheaper budget sets there too): https://www.head-fi.org/threads/going-fully-wireless-iems-too-soon-or-are-we-there-yet.861024/page-3462

Check Scarbir's website, regancipher's Head-Fi and Youtube reviews, /r/Earbuds, etc. for the new budget TWS earbuds or best value.

Scarbir's from Europe and regancipher is from the UK too, they have prices/availability/etc. in European context.

Look into squig.link and use the AutoEQ feature there, you can compare graphs, easily parametric EQ to a specific target, etc.

Alternatively you can just use something small and flush like the Sennheiser IE 200 with the FiiO UTWS3/5 and this will work nicely (there's cutting out issues though due to Sennheiser's proprietary and loose MMCX ports/plugs, make sure you get the adapters/converters specifically something like for IE 900/600/300, AKG N5005, etc.). The UTWS3/5 sadly only have preset physical buttons too though, there's like 3 to choose from with the FiiO Control app.

Wired IEMs with TWS adapters (like FiiO UTWS3/5, KZ AZ09 Pro, etc.): https://www.reddit.com/r/HeadphoneAdvice/comments/125a33h/upgrading_my_xm4s_wireless_iem_advice/je3kulz/

Starting with the current marketed hype IEMs (Simgot EA500, Truthear HEXA, Shuoer S12 (Pro), 7Hz Salnotes Zero, etc.), AliExpress Anniversary Sale 2023, and so on: https://www.reddit.com/r/HeadphoneAdvice/comments/122w6uz/help_me_to_choose_my_first_iem/jdsqjre/

If you want, the DIY IE 900 (the one that o0genesis0o reviewed) has a regular MMCX port and this will not be loose with the UTWS3/5.

If you're not averse to potentially getting a different tuning than what others had several months ago, you can just get the ~$80 DIY IE 900 that o0genesis0o reviewed here (vocals will be too far away though, needs TRI Clarion): https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/vzn9el/how_does_a_diy_ie900_from_aliexpress_sound_like/

I decided to install MMCX adapters on KSC75 drivers and keep KPH40 drivers on the stock flat cable because it’s nice enough and semi-interchangeable. I’m also using KPH40 drivers for my smaller mobile builds with the KSC75 ear clips and the Porta Pro headband. Since the stock KPH40 cable is a bit lighter and more simplistic than an MMCX it makes sense for that use case.

Edit - The red and blue bits are part of the new rhythm beige KPH40.

Super comfortable, stock pads were scratchy as hell. I actually removed the row of nuggets from the headband because it seems to have changed the fit enough. Also, these cans produce like 100% more bass when you break the seal by lifting them up by the connectors, wish I could keep them like that.

Considering the difference between the HD599 and the HD650, the difference between the HD599 and the HD560s is not going to be that much at all, especially to the untrained ear.

You are correct.

The distinction here most aren’t making is the difference between weight and fat. If you wanna lose weight—yeah starve yourself, keto or not. You wanna lose fat and actually be healthy—do what you said.

Intermittent fasting, like both of you have said, doesn’t help directly but can limit how much you can eat. That being said—a two day fast is bullshit for any long-term goal.

Great job, I admire your patience. I assume you changed the cable as well. If that's the case why didn't you go with replaceable cable route?

So, you flipped your KSC75 drivers onto your KPH40 headband and love it. Naturally, you then swapped your KPH40 drivers onto your KSC75 ear clips and they’re fine. But, here’s the secret sauce - Chunky pads.

These $3 “Luxurious” eBay/Aliexpress pads from China are the chunkiest I could fit on the KSC75 ear clips. They’re roughly the same width as Yaxi pads but almost twice as thick. Fortunately, they’re also super squishy since you really have to squeeze your ears in. They might look ridiculous but they sound great.

The squeeze creates a seal that’s crucial for sound quality. These fatties really rumble. A fun side piece to the super tight KSC75. Could the KPH40/KSC75 be the best price-performance duo in the audio world?

I could probably use a sub to fix the 50hz null... but there are more dips than that...
If I watch this, there are dramatic dips in the volume along the way:

I like accurate bass tones... so it's just an uphill battle and a constant headache, especially if I'm usually listening around 60-70db where the kick is far less pronounced.
The timbre and presence of a really good cello tone is hard to beat with my cans.
