Yeah, Focal headbands have a chintzy internal construction.
Remember the goo that leaked from Utopia stock pads and got into the driver chamber? This caused a number of driver deaths.
I'm also a Utopia owner (2020 edition).

The Sony didn't improve it, it's just the output impedance of the Sony headphone port being high enough (more than 1/th the impedance of the headphone) that's is altering the FR and adding bass boost... That's not the way the HD560S sounds

Reply to Some cheap headphones are so good it's almost ridiculous. Buy the HE400SE and SHR840A. by mistersprinkles1983
I'm satisfied with my DT 770 with EQ and my Fidelio X3's with EQ. The HE400SE interests me a lot though but I'm not sure I need another headphone.
In the closed category I looked at the SHR 440 and 840 and chose DT 770 in the end because I got them refurbished for a low price and the comfort seemed great + they had a good reputation despite a fairly few founding their tonal balance to be too bright. With EQ I'm personally loving the DT 770 Pro and the same goes for the Fidelio X3 which with EQ sounds like a clearer version of the generally beloved X2.

Why does it matter lol, the sound signature is different and that's kinda all that matters really.

Don’t do this!!! …. But I wonder if cutting a channel somewhere in the pad [to break the seal] would give you the increased bass?

You pulled my arm, I’ll buy the utopia lol

Admittedly I don't own any, but I think the general concensus is that they're very good... When they're not breaking. QC lottery and total lack of replacement parts combined with the price has always put me off buying clears, if I'm spending that amount of money I'd like to at least know that if a part fails, it can be replaced.

Tin HiFi T2 is an in ear monitor not earbuds so they go inside your ear canals, if you kinda make it sit outside your ears they would definitely fall out. and make sure you put cable over around your ears.
also you should check out the link that SweetCans928 posted

Would the HiFiMan HE400SE be a good upgrade over the Sennheiser HD 558 (Foam modded)?
Scharfschutzen t1_jedvd8i wrote
Boring and low build quality (lots of driver failures.)

Clear Mg isn't an upgrade at all, it's pretty much a Clear with less metallic timbre

I have seen the Shure a lot but never really paid any attention to it. You should try K701 or K702 they are fun, massive Soundstage.

No, from closed back i tried demon d5200 and today i will try shure 1540. I listened also to hd660s, hd650, sundara open and i must say that d5200=hd650<hd660s<sundara open<<k371. Because sundara open was great but hasn't blow my mind, I didnt tried closed back version. I will reply to you in the weekend about impressions on shure If you want to. If you get your hands on 700 Pro X then tell me what you think about them, i am also curious

How would you compare bathys and radiance?
big_brothers_hd600 t1_jedtx1a wrote
how about both?
I have 3 pairs of nice speakers and I rarely use my maggies, cause I have to move my other speakers to set them up and I need to sit in the sweetspot on the couch.
And after 9-10 I cantuse them anymore, cause noise complaints.
Also, ir just hits different

Dude I havw 560S and they are eons ahead of Focal Bathys or any bluetooth headphone and were 4x cheaper.
Full sized open back headphones will absolutely crush BT headphones, which makes sense when you think of the design constraints of the latter

I am a fan due to comfort and tonality. For my use case and musical taste, Focal is hard to beat. Probably in the minority here, but the comfort, punchiness, and overall sound of my Elear (with Utopia pads) sound better than the Sundara and HD6XX. The only issue I have is the creaky headband.

My Clear Mg pads are $124 for the pair direct from Focal. Same for my Radiance.

No it isn't since I'm seeking a better technical performance as well, otherwise it's just a side grade.
