I didn't know about that. I searched "clean up DT770 earpads" and I found a few results, but nothing about not washing the earpads.

Of course I don't want to fool anyone. Seeing those yellow stains will definitely put people off. They're clean now, but they don't look like it. And I don't want to hide their condition. (meaning: lying about them being mint condition, almost new or anything like that)

Well... I hope I didn't ruin them. I washed them very quickly and I avoided leaving them in water for too long. I'll see when they're dry.

I never once said that, that's why I said that I spit on Hifiman build quality, it's genuinely terrible. I suppose my main mistake was saying "wouldn't" instead of "couldn't" in my most recent comment.

Wow. That is interesting. I very much want the HD600, but too expensive for me [let alone the Focal :-)]. I have the 400SE with me now but i can not listen to it. It is too sibilant and heavy for me. I am using a 3 times cheaper Superlux 672 instead, which i love. I also had the 560S, TYGR 300, DT 880, Meze 99 - i could not accept their sound quality after getting used to my equalized, ear-pad-changed 672. This shows that one's preference can override the price comparison.

I dropped my LCD-X and they still work great. I've dropped lots of different headphones over the years, none of them broke from just 1 drop.

Literally 100% of the hifimans I've had the displeasure of briefly owning didn't require a drop to break, all I had to do was wear them.

You like them, I get it. But let's not pretend like outside of being dropped hifimans don't just break from regular use. And far more commonly than an other brand out there.

Focals do tend to be a bit more polarizing it seems. People either love the Clear or dislike them. But those that dislike them still recognize that they are good headphones.

They are good headphones, they’re just not for everyone. Just like every headphone this hobby has seen pretty much. I have the Clear and I am a fan, fwiw.

I have the same feeling towards the Clear and ultimately felt that while I might be missing out on the soundstage of the HD800S and the planar bass of the Arya or LCD-X, I’d just be getting a damn good all-rounder headphone that doesn’t do anything wrong. And coming from the Sennheiser family yes, it’s a great upgrade.

I’ve had mine for 2 years now and still love them. Add in the fact that you can get a new pair for $900 in the US now, or even less open box or used, you’re getting an end-game headphone for a really good price.
