Previously I misunderstood how the cancellation process happen and thought it happened after the sound reached the ear. Thanks for the enlightenment!

No they don’t I asked Audeze. They claim to have decent passive noise isolation with double chamber headphones.

Yeah I’m sending my Arctis nova pro wireless back to Amazon today. I ordered a Maxwell. The ANC in my Arctis makes a very strange noise. I have two other non gaming headsets and their ANC doesn’t do that weird annoying vibration noise.
I wanted to love the Nova pro wireless. Love the station and swappable batteries I wish all wireless devices used swappable battery packs.

I also get migraines.
I have a pair of Sony wh-1000xm3 and still get migraines from them. In this case it's the pressure of the headband on my head combined with the added air pressure from the ANC that triggers migraines for me. I tried to remove the headband compression from the equation and tried some Air Pod Pro (gen 2), however, the ANC is still uncomfortable for me.
I'm currently using some Aful Performer 5 (paired with a Fiio UTWS5) and liking them so far. They're really comfortable and have great passive noise isolation. They also sound great too.

What added audio? ANC doesn't add anything.I understand you read how ANC works and got scared of it. I can assure you that there is nothing unnatural or unusual in this process. Sounds cancel other sounds all the time. When you speak, your voice bounces off other things and people and gets partially cancelled. When a guitar plays, it cancells some of it's own frequencies, which is why it has it's characteristic timbre. Cancellation means being quieter just like absorption or isolation. If you have a positive pressure and a negative pressure in the same space, they cancel out and you're left with no change in pressure. Just peaceful silence with no side effects.
Think of it this way - if it's getting colder, but you turn on heating, you have constant temperature. It's exactly the same with ANC, except the change is happening very fast. Since 'you turn the heater on and off' just as fast, the temperature is constant and your room cosy. Sound works in the same way, just instead of heat, there are tiny changes in pressure. ANC keeps the pressure constant and on the same level as outside the headphones. To your ears it's very relaxing.

ANC is actually super helpful for migraines

yes you're being paranoid, I'm also prone to migraines and if anything, ANC soothes me as it sound like muffled calm white noise, so unless that bothers you to some extend, I don't think you should worry too much.

That's because they're 2-3 dB above Harman over a broad range of frequencies right where our ears are most sensitive (upper midrange / lower treble).

I don't think so. They're made to avoid burning people so I doubt it would get hot enough. Do you know anyone that might have a heat gun? There was an on site mechanic/general handyman at my old work so I asked to use his and he helped. Took us less than a minute with the heat gun so you won't need to borrow it for long.
Just a few points:
The cable will be HOT afterwards. Leave it for a while before you touch it.
Make sure you're not pointing the heat gun at anything flammable. Don't put it down on anything flammable when you're done.
If the cable starts smoking you've heated it up too much so stop. Try not to breathe it in.
Don't heat near the jack.
If you want to shape it with something while it's hot. Don't use your fingers.
I know that's just common sense stuff but I imagined reading tomorrow's headline: AUDIOPHILE BURNS TO DEATH IN HOME AFTER TAKING ADVICE FROM SOMEONE ON REDDIT and thought I better cover myself.

I just want the very last coil changed. Pointing straight instead of to the side.

That's rather brilliant. I'll definitely try this today. Think a hair dryer is enough for my project,?

Heat gun works. I converted my extra long straight cable to a coiled one by wrapping it round a pole and blasting it with a heat gun then flipping the cable inside out. Be careful though because you can melt right through if you're not careful. And get someone to help you unless you want to cook your fingers trying to hold it steady.

Coiled cables are the best tho ! Why would you want it any different ? Coiled cable stays shorter and manageable at close range, then expands as you move around the studio (or game room/etc)

A retractable cord’s memory is baked into the plastic, so I would surmise that applying heat could reshape it: https://youtu.be/s7rb6fZ4pEM

Anyone know if it is possible to reshape the end of this coiled cable without damaging it? The way the coil ends at a 90 degree angle is a bit annoying. Would like to reshape it to continue out straight.
Any thoughts on how to do this? I assume it's the rubber giving it the shape and not the wire?
