AKG K612 is one of the most underrated neutral/lean headphones of all time. While it’s sub bass is rolled off, the mids and treble are truly incredible for its price. And it definitely has the full K6/K7 soundstage.
I don’t own them, since I own the flagship K812, but for those who don’t mind rolled off bass, or who want less thunderous bass for gaming advantage (as opposed to gaming enjoyment), the K612 is great.
For those who want the AKG K soundstage, but can not tolerance sibilance, or fatigue quickly from piercingly accurate treble … the all black first edition MASSDROP K7XX has a much more “Sennheiser warm/darker” frequency response than say, the piercingly bright K701. In between the two is the Quincy Jones Q701.

AKG K6__, K7__, and K8__ have literally unbeatable soundstage width/depth/space, and 3d map placement accuracy.
Only Sennheiser HD800 and other even more expensive headphone series comes close to the AKG K6/7/8 soundstage.
And of all the more expensive models which can come close to the size of the AKG K6/7/8 soundstage, very few can also match that size with the audio accuracy, audio detail, and very revealing and relatively flat frequency response curves with extended treble for additional nuance, within that expansive soundstage.

Still AKG K612, and leave HD560s as your music phones. Trust me, if you're after spatial and imaging characteristics, the whole HD6xx series is not for you, but AKG K6xx/K7xx surely is.

People need to stop that "midrange" rant about Sennheiser, it's not even the tenth reason why they're so good because there're a lot of other headphones that do midrange correctly.
And yes, AKG K612 are one of them.

Got the Clear MG a few weeks ago and i’m kind of in the same boat as you. I’ve listened to them before but that was months ago. It seems i’m underwhelmed due to the hype of them especially from Zeos. Everyone else on here has given good advice of just keep on using them for adjustment, which i’ll follow too. That’s the thing about this hobby, no one has the same set of ears and it’s ultimately up to the listener to decide and critique the cans. Happy listening!

Only watch those two after you buy something, never before. They give bad advice but amazing purchase validation.

I'm more looking for imaging and soundstage than sound quality. I was hoping for a dolby atmos emulator on a budget.

>sing the new headphones will automatically make you pick up on details on songs you have heard many times
Honestly, the Grados and the XS's have the same amount of bass but the XS's bass is higher quality. It sounds tighter and more defined where the boundaries are, compared to the somewhat flabby vagueness of the Grados. Also, A/Bing them, the Gardo's midrange sounds definitely more nasally with respect to vocals.
But here's the weird thing, when I first got the XS. I plugged them into my pc without any amp and on one song I got a brief second of incredible imaging/soundstage where I heard the snare moving away from me every time it was hit.
I thought that was a sure sign of great things to come, but I have yet to hear that effect again. I thought getting a quality Amp would make it possible since I was under driving them. But alas, no dice. Now, the imaging on songs sound like everything is reversed because vocals sound like they're coming from the back of my head and all the instruments are to the 9 and 3 o'clock. I have yet to hear a true Front center channel or a smooth sweep from side to side.

Simple solution : use the Tygr 300R for music, use the PC38X for gaming.

Just got the pC38x as well and tried to install APO on my PC but but it doesn’t want to actually install anything even after troubleshooting. Would love to eventually EQ these things though

Eh I have both and sound wise it's up to preference really, technically speaking the Chus are closer to the Harman target so they will likely be slightly preferred overall but it's a minor thing anyway.

You may be finding the PC38X muddy due to its recessed treble. Try some eq on the higher frequencies to bring back a bit of sparkle

Zeros are better, I gave chus another try with the same tips I used with Zero and no I cannot get behind them

Like what a lot of people have mentioned, your ears get used to certain sounds and learn to prefer some over others. I usually don't like new headphones when I initially get them. It takes time for your brain to reset, then in time you'll start hearing "quality".

Reply to comment by Comfortable-Risk-520 in high gain or low gain? by Comfortable-Risk-520
You're more likely to get distortion running on low gain with something that needs high gain, it can run out of power and clip. This is more likely though on low impedance low sensitivity stuff, generally with high impedance stuff it just won't get loud.
Generally with high gain it doesn't increase harmonic distortion but rather increases the noise floor. If you hear this, it would be as a background hiss, so you might hear this for example on sensitive IEMs.
It's very unlikely you'd hear it on a 300Ω overear like the HD600.
It depends on the specific device too, some devices all the low gain is doing is putting a cap on the max voltage. General rule, high gain has higher noise but some devices it doesn't, or it's tiny, well below audibility.
I don't know about this specific dongle but it uses dual CS43131 DAC chips from Cirrus Logic. Most Cirrus Logic based dongles whether CS43131 or CS43198 (I have several) have insanely good noise and distortion numbers and you really don't need to worry about it. I don't think I've seen a bad one. More likely to get distortion from trying to run something that needs more power off the low gain IMO.
