He was also limited by his education. Much of Leonardo’s work was based on his own observations and love of nature, he had no real formal training. It’s interesting to think, that had not been illegitimate, he would likely have followed the family business and been a notary rather than one of the most famous talents of the world.

Sand and water were dripping out of the containers, and he was watching that fall, and seeing that eventually the sand and/or water would fall straight down.

Isn’t putting it on Gutenberg or Wikipedia a way to preserve, translate, digitize - for free?

The article mentions a water pitcher moving parallel to the ground but I don't understand how that would be influenced by gravity

I understand your intent but Preserving, Translating, digitizing, and then publishing that digital content onto a web server all takes work and people generally like to be paid for work.
So instead of making it illegal (which would just result in bad/low quality translations slowly trickled as passion projects or worse none because no one is paying for the work to be done) we should be getting the World's governments to fund them as social works of preservation for the good of society and publish them on free sources. And yes this means tax money would go to it.

Happy Wednesday everyone!
Just wrapped up Indigenous Continent: The Epic Contest for North America by Pekka Hämäläinen, and I found it to be fantastic! The book provides an excellent account of various First Nations, and their resistance to European and American expansion. My only comment would be that I wish a little mlre was said on the challenges of life on reservations today. Overall, excellent book!

I have not, but that does sound like a subject I would be interested in. I'll look into it.

By the time of the social war the Romans and Italians were so intermingled that there was very little difference between them. And that's where the problems of the social war began.
Being a Roman citizen gave you special rights, the right to a trial, the right to not be killed without trial and everytime there was a problem between a Roman and Italian, guess which side the Roman courts took.
So prior to the social war the Italians were feeling pretty hard done by. They have their lives to protect Italy from Hannibal. They have their lives to save the country from the Cimbri during the Cimbrian wars, but at the end of the day they were second class citizens. They didn't want to leave the republic, they just wanted their fair share of Rome's pie, after all, they were dying in Rome's wars.
That's why as soon as Rome capitulated and gave out Roman citizenship, the war came to an end. The Italians had what they wanted.

Boys study tactics, Men study logistics, Logistics is one of the most important parts behind any fighting force and can easily boost performance and moral, Or crush it.

Every single person in a military force is important, From those on the front lines, To those bringing in supplies to those that make the decisions, It is all one cohesive unit, One Entity.

or internet archive among others. you could consider the internet in general as what you described. but it'd be nice to have a global standard (in the spirit of the ISS for example), if there isn't one already..? idk
