While I have been to Salem a few times, I haven’t been to the pirate museum. The one on the Cape is small but worth the admission.

Thanks for the share, OP. I am currently listening to a very good Great Courses audiobook called The Real History of Pirates by Manushag Powell. This article was timely to my enjoyment.

How does the Salem pirate museum in the article compare to the one on Cape Cod?

Presumably the mammoth remains would have been identified by somebody. And somebody would have written something about this down. Otherwise we wouldn’t know it happened.

I thought this was sort of common knowledge? The bow and arrow along with the Atlatl gave us a major range advantage to our cousin species. It was these new tools that gave the 70k - 50k expansion an edge over the previous ones.

In one of the last few weeks /u/dropbear123 reviewed Cry Havoc by Joe Maiolo and said it compared favorably to Tooze in some aspects of readability.
Here's an interview with Maiolo if you're curious about it. https://newbooksnetwork.com/joe-maiolo-cry-havoc-how-the-arms-race-drove-the-world-to-war-1931-1941
