Hey there, welcome to the sub!
I really liked Making Sense of the Troubles by David McVea. It's quite balanced overall, and does an excellent job of explaining the conflict.

I feel like you may have identified a niche area that has not yet been fully explored. Would love to see something on this.

>Presumably, there is some minimal population that is a necessary condition for industrialization.
On the Italian peninsula alone, the Roman population was at least 14 million by 200 CE - compare to Great Britain in 1800 CE at around 10 million.
> Where did you learn all of this?
Just stuff I've read over the years from various sources, I have a particular interest in industrial technology and history.

Yeah I feel like if you write an article titled "Back When Pigeons Wore Bras" and don't include a single image of a busty pigeon, you should get your writer license suspended for at least a year.

Fun fact: Pigeon chicks are actually called “squeakers”

I’m laughing so hard imagining a pigeon strapped to a free-falling paratrooper 😭

I feel like this should be a brand new sentence. But somewhere deep in my bowels I know it isn’t.

I couldn’t figure out why paratroopers needed to have pigeons deliver bras to them.
“General sir! They’re gaining the upper hand on that ledge. Permission to wear this bra while we launch counter attack?”

How does one wear a pigeon? How does a bra wear them?

New to the sub but I’ve always been a fan of history. Can anyone recommend a good book on The Northern Ireland Conflict (AKA the troubles)?

I’m looking for a book (or any academic works) about how WWII are represented in videogames. It is connected with memory politics. In general, symbolic politics.
I will be so glad if someone can help me.

The German "knife in the back" myth. Convinced generations of Germans that WWI ended badly because of jews and ruling parties rather than military screw ups. Propaganda prevalent very much to 1930s and 1940s with obvious impact on Germany as a whole.
