The iPhone Ultra is going to be similar to the Apple Watch Ultra not some flip phone or gold plated monstrosity.

If you have been paying attention to Apple patents they have been working hard in the last few years developing patents to use an iPhone in rugged terrain. Take a look below and tell me this doesn't sound like they are building a companion to the Apple Watch Ultra:

Use the screen underwater - https://www.patentlyapple.com/2022/06/apple-won-62-patents-today-covering-a-double-sensor-blood-oxygen-measuring-system-a-functional-touch-screen-underwater-and-m.html

Navigate underwater - https://www.patentlyapple.com/2020/02/apple-invention-describes-using-a-form-of-force-touch-that-will-allow-users-to-navigate-idevices-underwater.html

Communicate underwater & underground - https://www.patentlyapple.com/2021/03/apple-wins-a-patent-for-an-important-underwater-and-underground-communication-system.html

Take photos and video underwater - https://www.patentlyapple.com/2021/04/apple-wins-a-patent-for-iphone-guis-with-special-wet-modes-that-allow-a-user-to-take-a-photo-or-shoot-a-video-underwater.html

They also recently won a patent for a beam forming antenna array. A big upgrade from the iPhone 14 current satellite antenna. Currently the phone requires you to move to find the satellite (not great if you're injured and can't move).

All these rumors pair well with the rumors of a rugged titanium casing:

Underscreen fingerprint reader which could allow for multiple forms of authentication which would be great in difficult environments:

And obviously the rumors of a port-less design for extreme waterproofing.

Not sure why Apple seems to be so hyper focused on extreme adventuring lately but they are certainly winning a lot of patents for it. What's your thoughts??
