I have always had an Android smartphone. If you're familiar with , I started with the Droid Eris, Incredible, Note, Pixel OG, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 6 Pro and finally currently my Pixel 7 Pro. I prefer the customization of the Android OS. I know iOS has limited customization.
Here are my main gripes with Android:
- Assistant is wonky. Sometimes works great, sometimes is completely off. You can tell it to play a song and then 5 minutes later play the same song and it tells you it can't for one reason or another.
- I spend 2-3 hours in a car every day and I rely on Android Auto and often asking for directions or the nearest gas station is very hit or miss. Often the voice search is unreliable and I hardly use it sadly.
- Android as a whole is a very makeshift and in progress system. A lot of the features are not final and its as if Google wants the user to test things out. There is no quality control.
Here are my fears about iOS:
I've heard stories about iMessage and how when you switch to iPhone , you can lose your text messages or if you switch back from iPhone to Android again you can't take your texts with you, etc.
Additional notes: I mainly want to switch because I'm frustrated with the quality control and reliability of my smartphone. The hardware is great, can be problematic here and there, nothing is perfect. But the software is like an unfinished product and I'm great at troubleshooting, I can never figure out why 5 minutes later I get different results under the same exact settings. Every time this occurs I get frustrated and say to myself I should just switch but I get cold feet.
I use a Macbook Pro as my main computer, have a Mac Mini as a server, an iPad, and an Apple TV. Simply because I just feel they work more efficiently and are more reliable.
Lastly please be honest with me, I will make my own decisions but I will use your replies in my decision. Should I switch ? I wish I could try out iPhone for 2 weeks no risk or even if I bought it cheap just to try , see how I like or dislike it. They are just so expensive even used or refurbished, it's been hard to go that route.
Appreciate any advice or suggestions or feedback in advance. Thanks!
