Mines just on a wireless charger, so definitely not charging at 20W, and I haven't had issues with other phones or devices heating up on this charger either.

It’s acceptable for it to heat up quite abit when charging especially with a 20w fast charger compared to a 5w.
My phone behaves the same, gets pretty warm while charging till 65% mark and then it cools down right after that. I dont think that’s an issue though.

I've noticed it with my 14 Pro as well.
I usually see it with my podcasting app and only notice when my phone throws an alert saying charging will resume when the phone temperature returns to normal.
My old phone was a XS and started getting them frequently around iOS 16 as well, but that seemed reasonable because it was an older device and I would get them when it was being put in strenuous situations (like being used in the sun in the car for GPS and music).
Seeing it on my 14 Pro, while it's charging in my 68 degree office that's no where near sun while just listening to a podcast seems like a flaw.

I would never advise buying from Facebook marketplace. If you want to purchase a used product, always go eBay. They always protect the buyer, to the degree that buyers can literally scam sellers easily.

Yes, but they need to physically inspect it in a store after 60 days. Not a OTA diagnosis. An actual physical inspection to check for any damage.

Go to an Apple Store and tell them to inspect it. You’ll have to repair the back or anything else that’s damaged for the full price, and then they’ll let you add apple care.

You can book an appointment at an Apple Store, however it’s unnecessary as they’ll just do what can be done on any PC running the latest version of iTunes, or any Mac running a recent version of MacOS:

Thank you! I can get this done at an Apple Store?

Yeah I just did a little research and apparently repair shops have some new tech that’ll laser the back adhesives off through the glass and it’ll just pull off like it was never attached. Really bringing down final costs.

Thank you! I am tech illiterate and just have watched movies about computer hackers and don’t have a frame of reference or know what is possible or probable or whatever. Thanks again!

A tech at my local apple authorized repair shop told me the 14pros can actually swap out the back glass now. Not sure how true this is however seeing as it’s his job I believe him.

Anything is possible.
The actual probability of this scenario happening are so low, I’d rank being struck by lightning in a clear cloudless day as more of a practical risk.

It would be almost impossible for this to occur. Not technologically, but practically. There’s so many contact points in a supply chain that a significant number of people would need to be on board for it to go undetected.
If you want to be 110% sure you can perform a Recovery Mode Restore when you purchase the phone, and before you set it up. This means the iPhone will have to go through ‘Activation’ where it registers and checks settings with Apple. If the software and/or cellular hardware has been tampered with it’ll fail Activation and brick the phone.

Everyone please… Camera lens protectors go a long way especially with the 14 Pro Max. Massive design flaw for them to keep the cameras unprotected. They should have raised the metal lip around each lens. As for the back glass… ye. Glass is Glass and Glass breaks unfortunately

Im sorry you had to go through that, these phones really be expensive.. Im also losing hope on ever getting it back tbh. I guess the phrase "You can't steal an iPhone" was pure over exaggerated then. Thanks for replying!!

It is, and I'm aware of that. I honestly don't know why they bought it from this guy. I would at least have inspected the receipt

14 series definitely got some issues with heat management. Hoping it’s just another ios 16 bug and get fixed on 16.3. Definitely need to be addressed.
