Reply to Weird iOS bug by Paranomac

Imagine thinking people will judge you for your carrier. What are you on, US Cellular? It doesn't matter, my dude. No one cares.

Rotation bug with the status bar. Been around for a few major versions (it was in iOS 15, maybe 14 as well). Usually harmless. Though, I usually see it go down the right side.

Sorry, let me clarify. The mount itself remains on the dash as it’s adhesive. The phone falls off the Apple MagSafe charging plate so the only variable is the case and I’ve tried at least 3 different cases. So it seems that, assuming the MagSafe magnet array in the cases come from Apple suppliers, the problem will be pervasive and unavoidable.

I don’t think the MagSafe magnets line up with your mount well. The magnets form a ring, with no magnetic strength in the middle (to allow for wireless charging.) I have a third party MagSafe mount from Amazon and it holds my bare phone (13 Pro) or with an Apple MagSafe case very well. My phone has never fallen, and I have to give it a solid tug to remove it from the mount.

I made the switch back in February. There are a few differences that may or may not matter to you that I’ve never seen mentioned. (I went from S20 to iPhone 13)

I have multiple Gmail accounts. When adding contacts they all go to one account. In android you can pick which account you want each new contact tied to. Also there are no groups. I had groups for each of my kids friends parents but can’t do that anymore.

In android you can control/set different volume levels for the ringer vs notification vs audio. Apple everything is set at same volume.

In android you can have multiple payment methods set up in Google Play. For my kids (not so much for me), we had both my card and Dad’s card in there. Sometimes he’d buy stuff for kids, sometimes me. I have not figured out if/how you can do that on iPhone without removing and adding card each time. Also in android you can use or not use gift card balances but in iPhone you must.

Last thing is it takes awhile to get used to keyboard and not having numbers and or punctuation on same keyboard. You need to hit an extra key. Still struggling with that.

Overall all phones are the same and have pros/cons. But if anyone knows how to solve my “problems “ I’d appreciate feedback!

Apple didn’t share your Apple ID. What’s happening is that apps can store data in the Keychain. Usually this would be login credentials, but they can also store other data, such as a token or some other identifier, that will allow the behaviour you’re seeing. Deleting an app doesn’t delete Keychain data. If you turn on iCloud Keychain then this data will be synced through iCloud.

On iOS, you can only see app and website passwords in the Keychain. On a Mac, you can see all data in the Keychain using the Keychain Access app. Just checked mine, and as an example, there are things like com.instagram.users.persistent_accounts and com.google.sso.GeneratedDeviceIdentifier (although it doesn’t look like you can see the actual data inside these). Things like that are what allow apps to retain info.

Update could be stuck or corrupted. Need to put device in DFU mode and restore using a computer. And that's if it's software related. If it's hardware related like logic board issues then there is no fix unfortunately.

Is it the only app doing this? Check your available storage, if this is happening to multiple apps it’s usually a sign of extremely low available storage which will eventually throw your phone into a boot loop. If not, as suggested above, a forced restart should fix it.
